Yes I like this thread, but it merits sub-threads if that's poss! bec it's quite hard to navigate to specific devices and the comments.

You have already included posts where the ereaders were listed by rank with various pros and cons, I just think this would work well if it was put in your initial post and updated each time you make another purchase. Having links to various posts is ok but it just means we end up going to as many web pages as there are ereaders and then we might as well enter the name of the ereader into google. The advantage of this thread is that we can see the experiences of someone who has used each device and actually knows what they're talking about. I appreciate ranking is awkward to do as everything is based on the users needs and budget but at least it gives a few pointers. I would also show the price (your local price) so I know I can ignore those machines that are outside my budget.

Actually, I think about adding PocketBook 302. But I guess I'll wait for PocketBook 602. But I'll certainly add iPad - hopefully it arrives this Friday. As I've written in the introduction to this thread: ...collecting gadgets.... ![]() |

iPad will be replacing my UMPC as my surfstation on the couch. "best two"? Edge in your opinion is one of them. And the other one? Last edited by mgmueller; 05-26-2010 at 03:29 PM. |

Can you recommend PocketBook 302? I'm interested, but not sure about the glare. Some say, it's way less glare than Sony 600. Some say, it's not acceptable and they want to replace the screen. I wouldn't want to do the latter, instead I'd wait for PocketBook 602. But if it's okay already now...

I'm not that sceptical about iPad (I'm no Apple fanboy either). I've read quite a few books on iPhone. Before that, I've read on Palm Pilots and Pocket PCs. So I don't expect any problems with display quality or glare. I guess, the only real downside is the battery duration. But quite frankly, I usually don't read more than 3 hours in a row. So reading won't be my main purpose on iPad. But I'll take it with me on vacation, for the occasional movie in the evening. And from time to time I'll probably read some magazines on it as well. But it won't replace any of my readers.

Wouldn't you do better to wait just a bit longer for the 603? It has most of the interesting key words 6″ Wacom screen, Wifi, Bluetooth, 3G, and TTS plus the PB firmware. It's on my short list but then I haven't seen the price yet and I have no idea what the 3G will allow me to do in the UK. It's odd how, when presented with so many choices, I'm stuck with indecision while you just seem to go for every choice available!
