Well google Sky Maps on Android will do that if your phone has a GPS and a Compass, not sure if you can search for a specific object though..... Will try it tonight when it gets dark lol

I think I've seen it. A friend was showing it to me. It uses GPS to determine where you are and display the night sky for your location, whether or not you can actually see the sky. He said that if he and his 12 year old daughter agreed it was the "coolest app evar!", it must have something going for it.

What it didn't seem to do was let you select an object and display information about it, which would be coolness squared.

You can type in "Mars" and it will show you where it is in the sky.

I've emailed my son....will confirm when I hear from him.

Probably. Google is taking over the world you know. It has voice recognition and gps maps etc. Just ask for the nearest shop selling Mars Candy Bars and it will give you audio directions.
