Please let me know if you find a device that can do this as there are many Hebrew readers around.
Hi YoYo,

It's not a surprise to me that Calibre opened it properly (although there are cases it just crashes due to some punctuations in the text).
I can also confirm that AZARDI, FBReader, EPUBReader add on for Firefox and Stanza on the iPhone/iPod handle Hebrew ePub properly.

PocketBook and the iPad are the only devices I can confirm that deal with Hebrew properly (although the iPad displays the pages in the wrong order while viewing in horizontal mode)

I guess I can add now the EZ reader to the black list...

Thanks,

Carmel

Just out of curiosity: What happens, if you convert the book within "calibre"? Does the "new" book show correctly on your reader?

I tried converting the file from epub to PDF in Calibre and voila! it displays beautifully on my ezreader. Sorry, I was too lazy to take a photo. However, I tried epub, fb2 and Lit formats as well, none of them worked.

This thread alone has more replies than all sticky posts in this subforum combined. Shouldn't it be a sticky?

I'm surprised about the Alex eReader because according to the press in Israel, it is going to be shipped in Israel in a few months. Well, maybe that's the reason why just in a few months...

Thanks again,

Carmel
I can recommend, to contact support from iRex and Spring Design. Both are extremely responsive and you get support directly from the developers, not some 3rd party support.

Feedback from Spring Design's support concerning Hebrew:
"We are developing a Hebrew supported version for Israel but she needs to wait for some time.
And this version is customized for Israel market, I don’t know if she will like it.
I think it will be available at the end of June. But it comes to users a little bit later."

and here is iRex support response:
Hebrew ePubs are not supported on the Dr800 yet, possibly in near future software upgrade. But until now no priority for our software development team.

Just wanted to mention, that PRS+ is available for Sony PRS 505 (expect it soon to be ported to 600/300), it allows to:
1) Folder support
2) Book History
3) Bind keys
4) Disable card scanning and carry tens of thousands of books
5) Localization (Catalan, Deutsch, Czech, English, French, ქართული, Русский, Spanish, 简体中文), adding support for a new language comes down to translating this file
6) Dictionary, Customize UI a bit, games (Sudoku, 5 balls, MahJong)
7) custom epub styles + switching between them

Check user manual for more info.

I found that FBReader is suppose to run on this device.
http://www.fbreader.org/about.php

That's interesting because FBReader supports Hebrew ePub properly.

You can have FBReader on iRex' units as 3rd party apps. Haven't tried yet, sorry.

Talking New addition: New Cybook Opus (the blue one)

I'll compare to the "old" Opus over the weekend.

It's funny: The package seems very much "inspired" by nook. Rigid and expensive looking, but extreeemely similar...

New one:
Firmware version: 2.0 (build 1170)
Adobe Reader Mobile: Version 9.1 (build 28890)

Old one:
Firmware version: 2.0 (build 1094)
Adobe Reader Mobile: Version 9.0 (build 26696)

Seems to be the same processor, though I've read somewhere differently.
