Surfing around I found this hardware:

nice looking device - my first thought was it was more like an iPad in its useage than a dedicated e-reader ....
at that price it is too good to be true !???! Last edited by GeoffC; 05-19-2010 at 05:07 AM. |

The second picture of the device shows the iriver Story interface, so I would be very suspicious of this device since they obviously are showing fake pictures of it. And having a TFT screen and up to 2 hours (meaning less when used) of battery time doesn't make it much of an e-reader.

Right, 2 hours or less battery life doesn't make it much for any use. I wonder how they can sell something portable with such a ridiculous battery life.
Anyway for that price, if the use is inside home it could still be something to buy if it's not a fake. |

This is an OEM product that is marketed by several chinese companies.
It is an Android MID I believe and a couple of people in the 'Other devices' section on here have bought it and commented on it. And not too favourably. I was very tempted myself as it is available through Amazon.co.uk's marketplace. |

I have one. An associate from Shanghai got one for $99 US.
Don't buy it if you are trying to a get $500 iPad for $100. I not an iPad. Its very twitchy to use, and the gravity sensors that detect orientation are not very responsive. The device locks up quite a bit and get a little hot, and battery life is not so great. If your a gadget freak with a drawer full of oddball gadgets, like me, this is an OK device. If your a regular person looking for a cheaper Kindle, Nook, iPad... I would suggest you keep looking. Device has promise, and sort of even works, sometimes, but I think it will frustrate most users. |
