It's how many times the screen has refreshed.

Hack really means modification.

The total page count gives you a running could of every time the Reader changes the page. Sony says the battery lasts about 7500 pages turns. But we know it doesn't in normal use. So you can kind of get a count of how many pages you turn in your normal usage as the battery drains.

I found a bug in the page flip counter. It still resets when I plug the reader into the USB port. So if I want to add a book to the reader, my page flip counter goes all to hell.

Choosing hacks

Perhaps this has already been done or suggested (and if so, I apologize for missing that post). What would be really helpful would be a small little application that could "create" the .xml files based on a user's selections of which hacks to include. Thus, the application would present a list of known hacks and allow the user to select the ones that are desired and, based on those selections, write the .xml code. This would be particularly helpful for users (like me) who aren't comfortable editing .xml code and would help with the proliferation of hacks that include this but not that or that but not this or this and that, etc.

Just thinking out loud...

---Michael

That is being worked on by Nogg. Dunno how long it will take and what can and cannot be combined. But I'm sure he'll sort it all.

I've read this whole thread, and I am looking for a modified app.xml and main.xml which do these things:

--Direct page control in books

--Clock in status bar

--Joystick (right and left) page flip

--Total pages counter inside book and menu's. Reset by "ENTER" press in about screen

--Circular page flip button becomes history back and forward.

--Circular page flip button pressed and held goes 10 pages forward/back.

PS: I don't want to lose the volume key functions please.

Thanks for this amazing set of hacked features!
Fabian.

That's a standard function, flamaest, that's why you're not seeing it on the list of hacks.

If you want to keep it, just don't enable any hacks that use that control.

The functions that do that are doFirst and doLast. The default behavior is as you describe, but if you'd like it on other buttons, use those functions.

yes, this worked!

Love your hacking tool, it works great!!

Question, do you think someone can produce a hack which will allow the audio-track changing [and possibly pause] functions while reading a book?

This would be an amazing add-on as I love to listen to music while reading with my Sony Reader, but alas, hate flipping through 20 button presses to manage the playing music.

Thanks again,
Fabian

Yeah, it looks like that's possible. If it's as easy as I think, I'll post it tonight.
