If you are particularly brave and want to help with pre-beta testing, you can pull from lp:~cbhaley/calibre/charles.custcol. This branch contains code that Kovid will review and, if appropriate, move into the calibre/custom-cols branch. Most of the changes since release 6.92 are in device management and device metadata caching. It is worth noting that device connection is now *much* faster, with observed performance improvement factors ranging from 8 to more than 20. This improvement is seen on the second and subsequent connections after installation of the beta. The first connection will be around the same speed as today, except for Sonys where it will be substantially slower. This improvement will probably be in the next version, 6.93. Thanks. I had the format of the lp: parameter slightly wrong. It's working now.

I've seen comments from others about this issue. Is there any chance that the beta can find the USB drive of the HTC HD2? |

The vendor codes are hex numbers are reported by calibre's debug connection output, and in your case will begin with 0bb4. |

@starson17: I just committed a set of revisions that implements opening an arbitrary folder as a device. Assuming Kovid accepts it (and he hasn't seen it
![]() To use it, click on the device menu (the down-facing triangle next to send to device), select connect to folder, navigate to the folder you want (presumably on one of your phones), and go. It will open that folder, scan it, build the metadata, and then show it to you. The first time will take a while unless you move the metadata.calibre file from the root directory into the folder. I haven't extensively tested it yet. I have opened it, added books, and deleted books, but haven't replaced books, removed books offline, or otherwise played with its brain. Your help would be appreciated. ![]() |

Yes, I'm pulling source now. Is there any reason it will conflict with the HTC driver, or can they coexist?

I disabled the HTC driver by changing the vendor ID for my TD2. Hmmmm... I should disable the connect_to_folder when a device is connected. Haven't done that. ![]() |

Preliminary, but when accessing a local computer folder (not on HTC) I'm seeing some refusals to delete files, followed by loss of access to the diamond next to Send to button, so I can't disconnect the folder. Sometimes the error message "No detailed information is available .... books on the device" appears after a delay.
Next I'll look at the HTC via folder access. Then I'll access an SD card through a USB reader. |

First connection to the HTC phone:
IndexError: list index out of range Is there a cache conflict because I connected to another folder first? BTW, do you want to do this in this thread or open a non-sticky? Code:
Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Util\Calibre2\src\src\calibre\gui2\__init__.py", line 262, in dispatch File "C:\Util\Calibre2\src\src\calibre\gui2\ui.py", line 1010, in metadata_downloaded File "C:\Util\Calibre2\src\src\calibre\gui2\device.py", line 1093, in set_books_in_library File "C:\Util\Calibre2\src\src\calibre\library\database2.py", line 418, in get_metadata File "C:\Util\Calibre2\src\src\calibre\library\database2.py", line 255, in get_property File "C:\Util\Calibre2\src\src\calibre\library\caches.py", line 165, in __getitem__ IndexError: list index out of range Wait! I can see that I lose access to the control triangle only when I have the folder library selected. Switching back to the main library allows me to disconnect from folder. Remember, I'm not familiar with the interface for an eReader Device, so I can't tell when the folder library is behaving oddly. If you have anyone who has used an eReader Device their comments may be more accurate. Last edited by Starson17; 05-15-2010 at 04:42 PM. |

Best to open another non-sticky thread. I am sure that other people can do without this traffic. Alternative: PM me your email address and we can do it that way.
