I have a new one to plug!
Farthest Space: The Wrath of Jan is now available in Kindle format for 99 cents. This sci-fi romance spoof is a re-release, which won the Eppie for best sci-fi/futuristic romance in 2006. There's an excerpt on my website. Captain Steven T. McNeill, famous explorer and even more famous playboy, finds himself stranded on an remote planet, alone except for his gorgeous, lavender-haired first officer Vaish and a neurotic computer named Fred. Together, he and Vaish must face dangers ranging from the threat of starvation to large, hungry saber-toothed cats. Steven's been working with Vaish for years, and never realized how much he admires her till now. But the galaxy's biggest playboy can't really fall in love... can he? As always, thanks for letting me plug my books shamelessly:-). |

New review of Dead Forever: Awakening . . .
5.0 out of 5 stars A fascinating science fiction adventure, highly recommended, May 9, 2010 By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) To overcome death has been the human goal since its existence, but perhaps they should have conquered tyranny first. "Dead Forever Awakening" takes place in a world where humanity has functional immortality, where when their body dies they simply get a new one, with no loss of any functionality or memory. But they live under an oppressive ruler, and one faction stands against this ruler, and although they too are immortal, evil has ways of subverting it. "Dead Forever Awakening" is a fascinating science fiction adventure, highly recommended. http://www.amazon.com/review/R2HAXQA...cm_cr_rdp_perm http://www.midwestbookreview.com/sbw...#Fantasy/SciFi ---- http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0034G6628 Kindle edition 99 cents. No DRM, text-to-speech enabled. More ebook formats at Smashwords, also 99 cents. http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/8981 |

Hi all, and William, good to see a fellow Portlander on here,
Until May 31st, my historical espionage thriller The Losing Role is $.99 for Kindle and FREE on Smashwords w/ code CJ27G: At the end of World War II a failed German actor, Max Kaspar, is forced to join a desperate secret mission in which he must impersonate an enemy American officer. So Max cooks up his own fanatical plan — he'll use his false identity to escape tyranny and war and flee to the America he'd once abandoned. Thanks! I hope you'll give it a look. Happy reading, Steve |

Hello all,
Time for another shameless promo. This time I have a terrific review to mention. It's from The Romance Studio, and I'm really thrilled with this one because it's clear the reviewer really got what the book is about. There's a romance, yes, but the story also focuses on the complex relationships of the characters. Check out the review here. http://theromancestudio.com/reviews/reviews/serendipityhousedebacco.htm Blurb follows, and if you'd like to read the first two chapters, I have them on my website, which you can access through my link at the end of this page. Sylvie was a pleaser. She did as her mother pleased, and she did as her fiancé pleased. Then she did as she pleased. Raised by a domineering mother, Sylvie doesn’t like the submissive woman she’s become. Determined to take back her life, she heads to the hills instead of to the altar on her wedding day. Coming across a quaint, country inn with an intriguing name, she impulsively checks into SERENDIPITY HOUSE. Peopled with an odd assortment of characters, the inn has clearly seen better days. Even the regulars have a bit of wear on them. Thus, when debonair Alex arrives and is strangely comfortable vacationing among the geriatric set, Sylvie is suspicious and does her best to ignore him. But Alex will not be ignored, pushing her buttons until she admits, if only to herself that she’s falling in love with him. Not until she’s hired to manage the inn does she learn he’s not the pedigreed gentleman he purports to be, but a streetwise PI hired by her ex to find her. Adding insult to injury, he’s bought the inn and asks for her help in restoring it to its former glory. Forced to work together, both learn about relationships, expectations, and acceptance—among family members as well as strangers who become like family. Thanks for reading , and I hope you’ll visit Serendipity House. Joyce Serendipity House |

CONGRATULATIONS! It is my proud honor to award you a Shameless Award, specifically the Shameless Award #2: The Giving Away of One's Firstborn Child in Order to Promote a Book. In recognition of this award, the Committee of One cited the uniqueness of actually giving away an adult child (are Pampers included, along with a shaving kit?) merely to sell a book. No one could stoop any lower than Donna Callea, the Committe decided, and concluded that this does not happen every day. Therefore, the Committee of One has decided to repost her entire post, located above this writing. Again, congratulations on your award! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Don (Moderator) |

Join the growing list of Readers Smarter Than a Harper Collins Editor.
Way back when Harper Collins UK began their writers site authonomy, an earlier version of Boomerang was one of the first books to reach the coveted Editor's Desk. Here is some of what the H/C editor had to say: This is clearly a fun and light-hearted romp of a mystery story, full of adventure and humor. The author shows skill in crafting a sentence as well as creating developed, well-rounded characters. The story is madcap and crazy plot twists keep the reader turning the pages. It has a nice international feel, with lots of locations that would appeal to a wide audience, and lots of “hooks” for publicity or marketing to use, such as the jazz angle, or the smuggling angle, or the political angle, etc. These kind of hooks are important if you want a book to really succeed in the marketplace, and here the author certainly covers plenty of bases. Of course, if they had picked up the book (the editor added "I thought the language almost too clever in parts." and thought I should get rid of Oz the dog, which just ain't happening) it wouldn't be available for just $0.99! So if you like your reading as described above, and don't mind dogs and language that is almost, but evidently not quite too clever (which to my mind means it is just clever enough!), give Boomerang a try. Coupon code for $0.99 price at Smashwords: MN64D __________________ |

I currently have four books on Kindle and Smashwords, all in the contemporary fiction genre. Three were published by mainstream publishers a few years ago and the fourth is brand new and will be out in paperback soon. All my e-books are $2.99
http://www.amazon.com/Fresh-Powder-e...3911409&sr=1-4 my 'socks and skiing' novel is about a group of people who get snowed into a chalet in the French Alps. Some of it is also set in New York and Paris. It's a fun read in the chick-lit genre. ![]() http://www.amazon.com/Finding-Margo-...3911409&sr=1-3 is more serious, about a woman who walks out on her husband on the motorway in the middle of France and disappears into the French countryside. This is probably my most popular e-book to date. ![]() http://www.amazon.com/Villa-Caramel-...3911409&sr=1-5 is a fun romp set in glitzy St Tropez and has already some nice reviews. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...160_AA115_.jpg http://www.amazon.com/Swedish-Beginn...3911409&sr=1-1 is contemporary fiction and the story of an Irish woman who goes to Sweden to find her late mother's family. Through letters her mother wrote as a young woman, Maud discovers the shocking facts about her own identity. It's set in Stockholm and its beautiful archipelago. (warning: contains some sex and nudity) ![]() Last edited by susanne; 05-15-2010 at 04:43 AM. |

SPECIAL THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR CONTRIBUTING TO THIS GREAT THREAD!
This is the Thread with NO PERSONAL ATTACKS AND INSULTS....We rely on BLATANT, UGLY SELF-PROMOTION AND SOMETIMES HUMOR: "Hey, Madison, once you finish the bathroom you can leave early. Oh, and how's your novel going? Great! Well, you can always self-publish it. Make sure you clean the bathroom with a fine tooth comb - Stephen King's coming over tomorrow and I saw a large fingernail in the bathroom sink and it doesn't look like mine." Above all: HAVE FUN! Still no takers on my firstborn. Can't understand it, though my second-born says he's not surprised. I've got news for him. He's next.

CRACK-UP is a rather well-received psychological thriller (15 of 19 reviews on Amazon and at Smashwords are 5-stars with only two reviewers being friends or relatives of the author, promise). It's on sale for a limited time more at just 99 cents.
