What do I need to register CONNECT?
Hi there ,
A friend of mine in the US just bought me a PRS500 , for a moment he gave me a heart attack when after 30 minutes of charge he said the screen doesnt refresh good (low batter syndrom I guess).

If he wants to leave the box itself and bring me only the reader and the cables (and etc...) , What will I need to register the device (and get the 100classic books promotion) ?

You just install Connect on a Windows system and when it asks if you are in the USA, just tick the box. Then you use Connect to go to the ebook store (also called Connect) and create an account. After that's all sorted, you can plug your Reader into the USB port and register it with the Connect Store.

Run Connect and then click eBook Store on the left hand side
Select register and register for an account. You must select I currently reside in the United States
Once you have your account and are logged in, click account and then manage devices and you can go from there.

The pieces out of the box you'll want (besides the Reader itself) are the USB cable, the AC/wall charger, and the cover. You may want the software CD as well, but you can download it from Sony's site if you'd prefer to do that.

Why doesn't he just bring you the whole box? It's not large, and it would be much more convenient. It's not some sort of "tax avoidance" thing, is it?

I just installed connect and it didn't ask me where I'm from.
Also there were couple of books on the reader (Da Vinci Code , Star Trek , 1948 and some more...)
Could it be that the reader is used or something ? And why didnt I get any questions about my location ? (Maybe because I'm behind a proxy ?!)

You aren't asked to register the Reader when you install Connect, but when you try to go to the Connect "book store".

Tried to view a pdf comics... the fonts are soooo small...
need to convert it to something I guess...
