I like that MOTH expression, it brings out an image of the guy going out at night to drink with his buddies mates.

A doona in French would be "une douillette" or familiarly "une doudou". I see a resemblance there to French as I often see in many "Ozyisms".

And in England it's a duvet. Or, back in the mid 70s, continental quilt!

Today - sunny but cold.

i am seriously going to go crazy if this continues. i heard on the radio this morning that yesterday we *almost* broke a record for coldest day since 1935 ; the record was 6°, we had 7°.

7°.

in MAY.

the cold is killing the swallows too, which i really really wish i hadn't also heard on the radio (so please nobody else mention it). i think i'm going to stop listening to the news altogether, it's far too depressing.

huh, that's funny ! over here we call that a couette. a doudou is a little blanket or teddy bear that a baby carries around with them, you know the one that if they are separated from it it's the end of the world...

Well if you're going to go crazy, at least try to do it in a funny or happy way

Just what I was about to say: I don't think anybody says douillette in France, at least not in Paris. It's a couette or a duvet.

Well, you know, there is something funny about that "doudou" thing. It's fairly recent, and other countries don't seem to have it. At least the people in Florida where my sister lives are a bit puzzled by this French custom

When I was a kid nobody had a doudou, but now it seems to be a mandatory accessory for every child.

Me too! It is supposed to average at 17! degrees at this time of year, not 5-6...

Though, they said it would be a bit drier and sunnier this weekend....

After seeing some pictures from halfway april from last year, I get the idea that nature is by now about 2 months behind schedule...

Blankie! You found Blankie? I lost Blankie, or someone stole it, and I haven't had a good nights sleep in I don't know how many years!

Is there still that bit of blue satin left on one corner? Please send pics.

Could you please send it to me? I'll send a UPS label to pay for postage.

Cold and grey. Sort of like a July weekend. Shorts weather, actually. I filled the pool this weekend in anticipation of the heat wave. Turned the pump on and flames shot out of the sides. Not sure that's supposed to do that.

No, it's just that the pool is freshly filled and it takes a lot of heat loss to freeze down eight feet...
