Okay, my 2 cents.

1) Avoid Copperplate like the plague. It simply doesn't work anymore.

2) I agree with someone who had a thing about spaceships. Unless you can have a 3D model, it will come out somewhat clunky.

3) I do like the Bin font cover, for the simple reason it is futuristic and also because you have the planet there; conceptual but not underlined.

Please feel free to disregard these and do whatever you want, it's your book - but I have made a note of it.

I'm just not really Moejoe any more, and I certainly no longer consider myself an author of any kind. Hence the name change, and also, I like Sombreros and the Three Amigos.

You can add a small spaceship to the orbit around the red planet. If its small enough to not be...obvious, I think you'd get what you needed from it.

Off topic: Did you ever get that FAQ up? I just DL gimp/inkscape. And why are you not a writer anymore?

I never did finish the FAQ and I'm not really writing anything I'd consider to be worthy of the title 'author'. I still write, but now it's just pulp, quick stuff and outlines for the series in my pulp venture. I came to a realisation that writing is pretty much dead as anything more than entertainment. Which is no bad thing really, but it means I have to shift my passions and in some cases forget about them altogether to get something off the ground. The way I see it this is like the old pulp days, you've got to set up a house and pump it out quick, fast and recognisable if you want to keep things going and growing. Individual authors who aren't in collectives or 'houses' are going to have a shitty time in the next couple of years just trying to keep their names out there, let alone if they want to make money. I believe there's a five year window for new publishing ventures to take off and either stay as indies or take the money and run when the corporations offer buyout money. Five years of rapid growth then someone will come along to cut off the dandelion heads.

If I write anything personal and what I consider authorial, I'll just put it out into the Public Domain and see if it floats.

That's what I'm doing... I see no other way, I've checked the agencies, the people who write my kind of stuff are represented by the kinds of agents Dan Brown would have to grovel to (now) to get representation... In other words, the success came first THEN the agent... so I'm self publishing and frankly, if 3 people like what I write, I'll be happy... ok more than three because my nephew, my sister in-law and my Mum like it... yeh there we are anyone else is gravy.

Cheers

I think I'd rather have my testicles removed by a giant ant than I would cosy up to a ten percenter. They're a thoroughly repugnant group of people with no redeeming qualities at all.

I like this one, honestly.

The space scene really doesn't do much for me, and the red font on the other covers just looks pasted in. I know you said they are mock-ups, though.
