Can it really be the case that no DX (US) user has received, captured and uploaded the 2.5 update? Please, let's not be shy... step forward!

all we need is someone who hasn't received the update, and is running 2.3.2 to use "recuva" to make a bin file, right?

Hey Sischa,
please can you test, whereever you have unlimited access to web-browsing in germany. Some 2.5-Users have told this. Thanks Mike |

Recuva doesn't create the .bin file. It just brings it back from being deleted. |

so that's why we won't get a copy of 2.3.2... it's been too long...

Ah, I finally get what you were saying at first. Yea, it's hard to recover the file after some time has gone by because the Kindle moves files around so much during normal use...

A few thoughts and this thread seems like as good a place as any. This is largely speculation so take anything I'm about to say with a grain of salt.
When the 2.3.3 update was released there was a rush to grab it and much speculation about what it did even though Amazon CS seemed to be saying it was only a fix for a problem that appeared in a few Kindles. Which it seems to me suggests there may have been some slight hardware variances within the same model That is to say that one Kindle 2 US isn't necessarily exactly the same as another Kindle 2 US. There have been multiple production runs of the various models so it stands to reason that subtle differences were introduced between runs. I'm told this is not an uncommon thing. IC manufacturers are frequently subtly updating their products over the life of a chip's production. Following this line of thought it seems probable that something about the 2.3 version of the Kindle firmware ran afoul of these tiny hardware differences. So the 2.3.x updates were released to fix specific issues caused by the aforementioned variations in the hardware. Now we have the 2.5 update and their probably trying hard to avoid the situation that caused them to release 2.3.2, 2.3.3, and 2.3.4 at roughly the same time and the resulting customer confusion. Like my confusion when I left my wireless on to get 2.3.3 and ended up with 2.3.2 which nobody here seemed to have heard of it. This is why I found it interesting that synlor and I both had 2.3.2 on a Kindle DX(US) and received the 2.5 update the same day. I suspect that the majority of folks who had 2.3.2 on a DX US and had their wireless on that day got 2.5. That suggests that whatever schedule they have for the 2.5 update batches is in some way version dependent. What might be interesting would be to hear from those who've already gotten the 2.5 update and for what models and what previous version they had. All that said, I think the best idea at this point is to just leave your wireless on for a few days and see how soon you get 2.5, |

I think most people have removed their hacks and had their wireless on for over 2 weeks now. No dice. I cant believe no-one has captured the bins yet.

I can't believe it, either >_<; I would have though we'd had it by now.... maybe out of all the people who have it ( a small number, granted) none of them visit here or Kindleboards?

It has been too long for 2.5 k2i to appear on the wild. I check 3 or 4 times a day kindleboards, mobileread, twitter and even hi-pda in hope that someone with a k2i and 2.5 was able to "get the bin" and post it somewhere.
But amazing.. no one has done that yet.. |
