we love our prs-600 and continuously fight over who gets to read tonight . even though we have an ipad reserved, we are still looking at possibly getting another ereader. the ipad will mainly be used for graphic novels and comics, as the backlight eyestrain headaches are too common for novel reading for us. | |

I was not considering an iPad because I had my heart set on a plastic logic Que, but after seeing and using one at my local Best Buy, guess what I now have. Sorry Plastic Logic but I couldn't wait.

While we're at it, let some pictures do the talking: Manga in comiczeal Comics in comic reader mobi Een pagina uit iBooks Twee PDF-magazines op goodreader En... een travelguide PDF op goodreader Well, how sad it may sound, this covers 70% of my interests. ...hmmm it seems photobucket now resize the images with some fuzzy filter... hafta find another host to upload pics to then... I prefer the cozy "sits together in couch, shoulder to shoulder, browsing through photo-album"-situation. Last edited by athlonkmf; 05-06-2010 at 08:51 AM. |

thanks for the screens, but I think the spiderman one is not readable at full screen, based on your screenshot. Do you really need to zoom in a bit at those comics? That would be a really shame because that's what I hate about those 5" screens.

I find comics to be easily readable in portrait, and in most cases readable in two-page landscape, although sometimes you have to zoom in there, if there is small text.

Be aware that those screenshots are compressed and resized to 800x600 and you're reading it off a normal screen I presume. "in real life" the pictures will be shown on 1024x800 and on an IPS screen. That does makes a difference.

Sometimes when comics are scanned from paper, especially old ones, you can see the page on the other side bleeding through...

I'm an iPad fan and I don't even own one! I can't help but be impressed by it every time I play with one in the stores. I've fuddled around with Windows tablets, Android, WinCe and Linux devices, but so far the iPad seems to be the only one to get it right. I'm waiting for revision one or two and (unless something it's equal comes along) I'll probably bite the bullet and get one. |

Before purchasing/using my iPad, I thought the same thing. I, too, spend each work day staring at LCD screens... and figured an iPad for reading would be LCD-overload. When reading on the iPad, however, I turn the screen brightness down low and read for hours without a problem.
