As with others, I'd like to see the ability to categorize books somehow. Whether that's free form tagging within the desktop app or choosing from a prep-populated genre list, that feature would really help organize things.
I'd also like to be able to delete some of the pre-installed books. There are some I just won't ever read so don't want them cluttering up my book / author list. I'm told that's coming, so looking forward to that. I'd also really, really, reeeeeeally like to be able to adjust the bkgnd/text contrast. I wouldn't want a white bkgnd (not sure if that's even possible), but a lighter grey to increase the contrast between bkgnd and text would (for me) make it much more readable. Not that I'm near the 60's range, but "Someone in their 60’s requires 3.5 X more contrast than someone in their 20’s." (http://ergorisk.com/images/PDF/ergot..._office_w3.pdf) When I was showing my Kobo off to someone who was past their 60's the first things they wanted to do was increase the font size and "make it brighter". I was really surprised to find there wasn't an option to adjust that contrast. I think Kobo offers six or eight levels of grey, so being able to pick from those would be ideal. I'm also eagerly looking forward to Kobo's approach to responses to user feedback. I was also an early Android adopter, and Rogers supremely messed up their response strategy and understanding when it came to customer feedback as can be clearly seen here: http://www.iwantmyonepointsix.com |

The biggest beef I currently have is that nine times out of ten when I power back on, I just want to go back to the book/page I left off on. If this is possible it should at least be exposed as an option.

The Kobo Team is actively checking this forum so God willing, we'll be seeing some of the requests in the next firmware update.
Keep it up Kobo Devs! Peace. |

Hi JCSullivan, on powering up the device my Kobo always goes back to the "I'm reading" menu instead of directly to the page I was reading.
+ From Off State (Current book Cover -> Would be nice to have a user custom screen here) + Power Press + Kobo Boot Screen + I'm Reading Menu (ie. not the last read page). I think dantaipan was looking for an option to make the device boot directly back to the last read page instead of going through an additional screen. Hope the KoboTeam adds options to have more control on how the device behaves. Peace. |

That is exactly what I thought too. But you do have to remember that the Kobo boots, then checks for new content (possibly only with an SD Card inserted), then shows you the "I'm Reading" page which lets you select a book. Then it needs to load the book. However it is suggested that you don't need to turn the unit off for any reason other then to put it into locked mode in a way. |

I'm in favour of a key-lock mode like my Hanlins have. If I grab the Kobe with my left hand, I'll have my thumb on one side, and four fingers along the other side. One of them is bound to hit one of those four keys! Most disconcerting!

The main features I'd love, which some other people have already mentioned:
1) A progress bar at the bottom, showing me how far along in the book I am. For many books, this is unavailable. It's a daunting task to read a large book, such as War and Peace, without knowing how far along you are. 2) A go-to-page feature. If I want to skip to page 300, I shouldn't have to hit "next page" 300 times. ![]() 3) An easy way to remove books out of my "Currently Reading" section. I have no idea how to remove them right now. |

I'm not at all knowledgeable about USB protocols. but I wonder if there is any way for the Kobo to detect that the device HAS been stopped, and to perform the updating while still plugged in?
It strikes me that the battery life is quoted in Page Turns; yet the act of adding material through any means (especially complex books) can take quite an extended period of time. |

Yeah, but when you connect it via USB it does charge... so I don't get you.. could you be more specific?

I don't if it's been posted, but I'd like the PowerOff button to act as a sleep button when pressed and as a TurnOff button when long pressed.
Both shall show the book cover, but the former will allow for a much faster "unsleep" (as the device is actually asleep (ie key-locked). |

This process can (depending on how much you have added) take an extended period of time. During this time, the Kobo is running strictly on the internal battery. This puts quite a drain on the battery of the Kobo. I am suggesting that if there was any way to leave the Kobo attached to a charger while the data IS manipulated that it would be far easier on battery life. |

But that won't drain much battery either. I added over a thousand of books and it took hours to process all of them (between 1 and 2, I think). But the battery meter didn't drop almost at all. The bad thing is that it keeps processing them everytime you plug/unplug it and even if you don't add or change anything. That's rather annoying. What's the point of having over 1Gb worth of books if it keeps re-indexing them all the time you unplug the cable? Issue submitted though. |
