Just a quick note to say that I read Nick Spalding's shamelessly self-promoted Life Without a Break without a break. I'll explain why this was a single-sitting book in a fuller review later.
For now, I'll just say that it was the most compelling, honest and fun read I've had for a long, long time. Much more than beginner's luck. As I read, it came as no surprise to find that, when it comes to snappy, grabby writing, Nick has more than a little pro experience under his belt. This is the best buck-and-a-half I've spent since the mid-sixties, when I could have got smashed out of my brain on good English ale for an entire weekend on that kind of loose change ... and stlll had enough left over to pay someone to carry me home. Here's karma to ya, Nick. Neil |

I'm on a shameless promotion roll!
Just got another terrific review on Amazon for New Coastal Times from someone I'm not related to and have never met. 4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect book for our times, May 1, 2010 By Karin Lib "avid librarian" (Philadelphia, PA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: New Coastal Times (Kindle Edition) I had read the haircut back in January, and had to download New Coastal Times when it came out. I really enjoy callea's writing. This is a post-apocolytic story that is so apropos for today. The story starts out with several major disaster throughout the country all at one time. Great writing and story. |

Time to roll out another plug.
If the following blurb interests you, I invite you to read the first two chapters of my full-length novel, SERENDIPITY HOUSE, on my website, joycedebacco.com. Also, if you missed my thread on the deals and freebies forum, ritareviews.blogspot.com is giving it away after she reviews it. Sylvie was a pleaser. She did as her mother pleased, and she did as her fiancé pleased. Then she did as she pleased. Raised by a domineering mother, Sylvie doesn’t like the submissive woman she’s become. Determined to take back her life, she heads to the hills instead of to the altar on her wedding day. Coming across a quaint, country inn with an intriguing name, she impulsively checks into SERENDIPITY HOUSE. Peopled with an odd assortment of characters, the inn has clearly seen better days. Even the regulars have a bit of wear on them. Thus, when debonair Alex arrives and is strangely comfortable vacationing among the geriatric set, Sylvie is suspicious and does her best to ignore him. But Alex will not be ignored, pushing her buttons until she admits, if only to herself that she’s falling in love with him. Not until she’s hired to manage the inn does she learn he’s not the pedigreed gentleman he purports to be, but a streetwise PI hired by her ex to find her. Adding insult to injury, he’s bought the inn and asks for her help in restoring it to its former glory. Forced to work together, both learn about relationships, expectations, and acceptance—among family members as well as strangers who become like family. Thanks for reading , and I hope you’ll visit SERENDIPITY HOUSE. Joyce |

I hope that a full length novel for $1.99 is considered a "deal." Rottweiler Rescue, a mystery set in the world of dog rescue, remains at that price at Amazon for the Kindle and at Smashwords in other ebook formats. It has to date garnered 24 very complimentary reviews.

Now that is the best plug ever! It's like me at Christmas with the Humane Society, when they have the dogs with the reindeer antlers on their heads infront of the food store asking for donations. I get out the checkbook and say "Okay, have your way with me!" ![]() |

Thanks Dr. Drib, Helen and MaMiller! I couldn't help sharing this one, she looks so serious, lol. Tallulah (that's her name) is the inspiration behind "Gertrude" in the book. We even had some "Team Gertrude" t-shirts made for the kids at my daughter's school with this pic on the front.
