I enjoyed the Blackmore speech at TED that you turned me on to, and I imagine her books are equally enjoyable. I wonder if she gets into her theory of Temes in that book? | |

I really like Carl Sagan. Anything that he has wrote is good. I hate that he is gone... I also like Richard Dawkins; although not on quite the same level.

I just watched Creation, and it strikes me as historically questionable. I find it hard to believe, for example, that the Great Naturalist could see and speak with his dead daughter. Also the character of Charles Darwin seemed wrong. I had a hard time believing that the man portrayed in the movie could string 10 coherent sentences together, much less write a foundational work of scientific literature like The Origin of Species. Two questions: (1) Can anyone recommend a good non-fanciful biography of the man? (2) Has anyone read his autobiography? Thanks! |

Tom, it that the one that was "panned" by the theaters/critics here in the U.S.? I watched a multipart dramatized biography on PBS .... sorry my alzheimers is preventing me remembering the name, but I thought it was well done. (I don't usually like dramatizations) AH, I think it was this one I saw: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/beta/ev...kest-hour.html |
