Just finished John Adams by David McCullough which was fabulous - very detailed account of the events surrounding the American Revolution from Adams' point of view. It helps put today's current events into perspective.

Currently reading Duel - Terror Stories by Richard Matheson. A lot of his stories ended up as twilight zone episodes. He has a lot of interesting premises for stories.

The Gods of Pegana by Lord Dunsany (actually not reading, but just done)

A surprisingly good and entertaining read. The first few pages and you may think “WTF?”, but with each page it grows on you.

"Still from a heap of bones that are Yun-Ilara still, lying
about the ruined base of the tower that once he builded,
goes up a shrill voice with the wind crying out for the mercy
of Mung, if any such there be."

Just finished Ghostly Tales, Vol. 1 by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu (1814 – 1873), a very short book with only two stories; the second of which is the better of the two. Not bad. The ebook edition was uploaded to MobileRead by crutledge (kudos, Karma, and thanks!).

Just started reading "Floating Dragon" by Peter Straub, thanks to a recommendation by Montsnmags. ( Thanks, Marc!) Very absorbing read, so far.

Just finished The Last Juror by John Grisham; typically good Grisham read.

Am undecided whether to dive into another mystery (I, Alex Cross), SciFi (Unseen Academicals) or buy the latest Richard Dawkins book (The Greatest Show on Earth). Wanted to get Dan Falk's Time: In Search of a Curious Dimension but, alas it is not available in ePub in the US

It's listed in the Sony Store. Won't they sell it to you?

Unseen Academicals is not SF or even SciFi – it's fantasy. Humorous fantasy. And what's really important – very, very good humorous fantasy, if it's up to the standard of the rest of the Discworld novels.

It's a glorious spring day so I'm reading poetry including Edna St. Vincent Millay: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20909 and https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20749

Afternoon on a Hill

I will be the gladdest thing
Under the sun!
I will touch a hundred flowers
And not pick one.

I will look at cliffs and clouds
With quiet eyes,
Watch the wind bow down the grass,
And the grass rise.

And when lights begin to show
Up from the town,
I will mark which must be mine,
And then start down!

Reading Trumps of Dooms, the 6th book of the Chronicles of Amber. So far the series has been fantastic.

I ended up buying The Great Book of Amber a few years ago (pbook) and reread all the stories. I plan on rereading them again sometime soon. I was fascinated by the "the pattern".

I think I'm going to have to do the same as dreams - get The Great Book.

I loved them many years ago.
