I agree 100%, and said as much in my newegg.com review. We know that Ectaco reads those reviews, so maybe they will do something about it.

As Ectaco toots themselves as a professional company supplying translation tools may be they should have two flavors of the JB/JB-L.
One version for people learning a language supported by their multi-language dictionary. The other version could be just a Reader with a stronger english only dictionary. Then it would be just a case of ordering the right flavor reader. Last edited by jlg432; 04-15-2010 at 11:58 AM. |

The firmware should allow for such changes. A dictionary program is normally composed
of two parts, one part provides the means of selecting/entering words for the search of the second part, a data base. A translation dictionary just has a data base that maintains two words (both languages) for each definition. The functional part need not change for a different language pair, just the data base used. So you should not need different hardware, just different firmware. Luck; Ken |

That sounds fine but it doesn't look like this company doesn't like altering something they've already developed. i understand that this dictionary is the same one used in one of their other products that existed before the jetBook series.
BTW - my mistake earlier about the JB-L not having a dictionary - I misinterpreted the statement describing the dictionary for the JB-L at their website. They made it sound like it could be added after the fact. |
