@EnergyLens: That recipe appears to be for a particular blog, can you add instructions to it on what to change to have it work for another blogspot blog? That would be useful for people trying to customize the recipe.

Directory to eBook
This Script takes an URL to a directory structure that can be accessed via a web server. The target directory is assumed to contain a series of directories each containing a single entry taken (in this instance) from Wikipedia. I use the Firefox plugin Scrapbook to save entries from Wikipedia that I want to transform into an epub file. I use Scrapbook to clean up the entries to my liking then export them to a directory (Wikipedia) in my local filesystem that is accessible by my local webserver (the Sites directory on a Mac). The script would need to be modified for how different web servers display directories in html for correct parsing. You will notice that the script has some sections commented out. I use the script for making books of many different types of web content and extract and add additional elements to the articles dictionary structure. These elements can be used to call the catArticles procedure to structure a feed such that the table of contents is created from these additional elements. |

have a trouble getting slashdot news on prs-505
I'm using calibre 0.6.13 under ubuntu 9.10 and trying to get some news on my device. There are feeds which work well, but there's a problem with Slashdot -- all I get is ~8MB files, which cannot be opened on prs-505, it says "formatting" for a while and then eventually reboots.
Is there any way this can be fixed or is there something I do wrong way? Thanks! |

First, I'd like to thank you for the wonderful program you wrote!!
Second, thank you for the advice -- now Slashdot works perfectly. Could you please give any hints or advices about the "best" format for PDF books, which removes headers/footers, keeps pictures and allows to reflow the paragraphs to fit smaller screen of prs-505? Thanks! |
