Hey! How did I miss THIS thread? Off shamelessly self-promoting elsewhere, I guess

In case you've been living under a rock, this is my first ebook:

DEAD(ish) is a romp through murder and the afterlife. It's crude, full of bad language and over-the-top stereotypes, and it contains Aussie spelling.

If you're easily offended, please, do read it! Then post a review about how offensive it was

Here are some of my favourite reviews:

Quote:
Even at 26 pages this "book" is not worth reading. It is something I could have written in an hour in 7th grade or so. Reading the overview was more fun than actually reading the book.
Quote:
I just re-read Dead(ish) and I must say I had as much fun reading it as the first time. While there is definitely a ghost, this is no horror story. (Well, for one hapless character it is, a bit). Meet Linda, the funniest, more creative, vengeful ghost with an attitude. Along with a loser boyfriend, a PI turned exorcist and the gay couple next door, they kept me chuckling all the way from start to finish. I suspect I will happily read it a third time, and a fourth.
Quote:
this was just horrible. The author over used the word arse and it becomes distracting and obnoxious. The story is stupid and I could care less about the characters in the story. DONT READ THIS STORY!
Quote:
The concept behind DEAD(ish), a ghost getting some serious payback on the loser boyfriend who killed her, is nothing new, but can be entertaining if done well. This story was done very well.

I admit to some qualms after reading the first page and the inordinate amount of swearing, but after a page or two, I stopped noticing. It was very easy to slip into the story.

You really can’t trust any of these characters, with the possible exception of Trent. The narrative keeps you guessing until all is revealed.

Poor Trent. His situation made me smile more than once while reading. In fact all the characters were sympathetic in a way. But none of them were nice.

A fast, fun, satisfying read. I smiled more than once at the antics of the characters.
There, doesn't that make you curious about where in the spectrum YOU'D fit in?

Oh yeah, it's FREE!!!

Edited to add: The F-word is used FAR more than the A-word. Just thought you should know that.

I formatted the Kindle version myself using MobiCreator and am rather proud of how that came out.

The book is the story of Dianne Brennan, a volunteer foster home for Rottweiler Rescue. Dianne never expected the job to be easy, but she didn't expect it to include murder! Yet murder is what Dianne faces when she takes a dog to meet an adopter, finds him dead, and sees the killer leaving the scene. Worse, although Dianne cannot identify the killer, he begins stalking her with deadly intent. The sheriff's investigators in Douglas County, Colorado, are convinced the killer is a member of the victim's family. Dianne is sure he will be found where the victim worked - in the world of dog shows and dog people. Can she keep herself and her dogs safe long enough to prove she is right? Can Dianne and her Rottweilers collar the killer?

Glad you found it on Fictionwise though. Also available on Mobipocket and from the publisher.

I thought Geo Restrictions were across the board - the publisher's decision - surely a book wouldn't have more than one publisher?

Geo restrictions are the author's choice, more often. They assign publication rights to one or more publishers. Many books have different publishers in different countries and often ebook rights were assigned along the same geographic lines.

A quick question for authors who have published via Smashwords' "Premium Catalog" before: If you are in the premium channel, have an ISBN, and your status for each distributor says "Not currently shipped. Will be shipped," is there usually any delay between when your book was approved and when your book will actually begin being shipped? Or does it take a while for the Channel Manager to update and accurately reflect which distributors have received the work?

(Asking because a couple of ship dates have passed since I was approved...)

I finally have a Facebook author page. If you liked the first story (We Don't Plummet Out of the Sky Anymore), I will be making others available on a semi-regular basis, so...

See you there.

(... and I would still love it if someone could take a few moments to provide a review at Smashwords.com. Thanks!)

In this case I believe it's simply an error and the publisher has limited the geographic restriction to USA. But Koland is correct, a book can have many publishers.

Hi all,

Since this is a shameless promotion plug, I will plug again—shamelessly.

To all those who've already purchased my book, SERENDIPITY HOUSE, thank you. And to those who might be considering it, I invite you to check out the first two chapters on my website, joycedebacco.com. I'd also like to mention that Fictionwise currently has it discounted even less than Amazon.

If your book is free, don't forget to put it in the freebies section of MR. Sometimes it's just too much hassle wading through all this shameful self promotion.

You can always go to the Last Page and start reading - unless you're an author and a masochist. (I understand the two are related.)

Bargain Paranormal Romance Novella!

I wanted to take a moment to let you know about my debut paranormal romance novella, Forsaken By Shadow, available for $1!

The blurb:

Cade Shepherd is on top of the world as this year's Ultimate Fighting Champion. He doesn't even remember his life as Gage Dempsey, a Shadow Walker with the ability to magically transport himself from shadow to shadow. In fact, he can't remember anything before waking up in a cheap motel room ten years ago with mysterious burns on his hands--not even the woman he almost died for.

Embry Hollister has picked up the pieces of her life, learned to control her ability to generate flame, and now works an enforcer for the Council of Races. But when her father is captured by the human military and the Council refuses mount a rescue mission, Embry has no choice but to go rogue. All she has to is find the man with the new name and new life who was completely wronged by her people, give him back the memories they stole, convince him to join her on what's probably a suicide mission, and hope that after ten years of living as a regular guy he still remembers what her father taught him.

And after that, she just has to leave him. Again.

Forsaken By Shadow is independently published as a means to connect with readers and build an audience. It is available from Amazon, Scribd, Smashwords, and the iBookstore.
