You didn't delete everything. Delete \Sony Reader\software\autorun.xml file.
I'm pretty sure I've done so. I've just repeated the process to make sure. From my Mac I deleted everything visible from the SD card. After inserting it in the reader, I got the error message I've described. When I looked at the SD card on the Mac afterwards, the Sony Reader folder had mysteriously reappeared (now containing only \database\cache.xml), along with two files: autorun_log2.0 and autorun_log2.1. Is there something obvious that I'm missing?

Thanks--

Run filesystem check and see if autorun.xml is there. If that doesn't help, format the card.

Say Igorsk! Could it be possible to write a page turn count that would be used like a car mileage gauge. When you gas up your car you can press a little odometer button that turns to zero. When you get to a certain distance, you stop to fill up the gas tank.
With this app on the reader, one could find out how many page turns between charges. Of course, one would have to turn the counter to zero after charging, unless there is a way to automate it, like if charging resets it by itself. This app could maybe also tell how many pages were turned from the application install date!?!
Thanks for messing with the reader.

Could it be based on code written for the 'History' feature?

You mean this?

I think I could adjust it to automatically reset when it is on the charger. Maybe even to reset if the script sees the battery is fully charged. Let me know if you are interested and I will put some time in it.

I will take a look at it tonight. To reset the counter at a full charge is not "possible" because the Reader's battery works with 4 steps also in the firmware. So the counter would reset as soon as it passes 75% and that will not give a good image. I will make it so it will reset when the reader is connected to the charger.

I will post the file later. Do you use any other hacks besides the clock that are not done in the application.xml file? In that way I can include them.

That would be nice diabloNL! Only if you don't have to put too much time on it.

Do you have any other hacks in use that I need to implement?

Presuming you don't need another hack in main.xml (let me know if so) here is the file.

This hack will count all pages flipped. It will reset the counter as soon as you connect the charger to the reader. If you connect the charger to the Reader while it is off you need to swtich it on with the charger still connected in order to reset the counter. As soon as the Reader is on you can remove the charger.

In other words: see the charger as a reset button that will reset the counter as soon as it is connected.

Let me know if it works for you.

Use at own risk!

Can you fix it so it if it sees the USB plugged in, it WON'T reset. It resets now when I plug in the USB cable to transfer stuff.

To be honest I never thought of that.

I will have to check if it is possible. Will let you know ASAP.

Thanks! I don't use the USB to charge the reader. Just do content management. It's not plugged in for more then 5 minutes. Of course if the counter thinks the USB is the power adapter, then I could do without a reset on charging and do it manually.

Also, can the counter also count menu pages as they count as a page turn?

It is possible and I think I know how to do it but I won't. Let me explain. In order to make it so that the counter will ignore charging through USB I need to do something in the USB part of the XML file. But I really don't want to take the risk because if it bricks there is a probability that I can't unbrick it anymore.

You can use the other main.xml where you need to reset it yourself. Also it's possible to map a button in the root menu to reset the counter. I made a new file where you can reset the counter in every menu by holding the "Next" button for a few seconds. Or are you ok with the "ENT" button in the "About" screen?

It is possible to make all menu pages add to the counter. Do you want the counter to show up in the status bar as well or only add to the total count?
