I just finished "Changes" by Jim Butcher (all I can say is ARGGGGHHH, in a good way). Now I'm trying to decide what I want to read next.

And I enjoyed this one more. Perhaps because it had less large-scale action. And since I'm enjoying these and they're keeping my attention, and I have such a large TBR pile, I think I'll continue. So:

Dead and Gone is next in the series (of novels, at least - I don't have the volume of short stories, as the price asked was ridiculous. Hmm... I see that Amazon have it at $10.99. But since I could buy the hardcover new for £5.20 ($7.99) - including postage (as I have Amazon Prime), that's not very attractive.)

I'm almost done (at last!) The Happiness Project. I have only been reading it during the morning/evening commute (I prefer fiction for longer reading sessions) so it took me awhile. It was much better than I thought. I saved many clippings from it. I was surprised because I never thought I would use the clippings since I don't take notes from paper books, really. But it is so easy to just highlight and save for later. I'll have to go in this weekend and transfer to computer. The clippings file is getting a little long.

Just got a new book 'A Bad Day for Sorry' and am really enjoying it. I found it at Kobo in the Edgar Awards list and it looked interesting, but it was a little spendy so I got the sample from Amazon first. Loved it. I did some comparison shopping and it was cheapest at Sony/Amazon so I got it from the Sony store. It's weird, Kobo has cheaper prices on some books but not others and they are not always matching the other stores.

I feel your pain! This past week I reconfigured my "Flesh and Grass" Kindle ms for Smashwords; I use OpenOffice and save as .doc, and wound up doing a lot of deletion of tabs and de-indenting by hand (it didn't take that long but was tedious). I did a second round of draft proofreading of the printed ms from CreateSpace; I now have so many corrections I'm going to have to apply them to both the Kindle and Smashwords formats. I just got sent a book for review for New Podler and it's dreadful.

Well that was fun. I'm impressed that she's kept the series going so well. I whooshed through that one! And now I have to wait for the next one — probably a long time, since I don't feel like paying more than $8.

Something random from my TBR pile next. It seems I bought this one back in 2005! So it's just possible I've read it already... we'll see.

Influx by J. C. Jones. Near future science fiction. Well, near future when it was published. Near past now!

And also no longer available at fictionwise... Perhap it's a good that my TBR folder is so full.

It reads a little like an "intended for movie" book. OK, but not brilliant. I think I might have read it when I bought it, but if so it didn't stick enough for me to be sure!

Next up: another random selection.

The City on the Edge of Forever by Harlan Ellison. Yes, a Star Trek teleplay by Harlan Ellison, with introductory essay by Harlan Ellison. It should be interesting.

That's my all-time favorite episode of the original TV series. A wonderful story with a not-so-happy ending.

I just finished this month's book club selection yesterday (The Egg and I by Betty MacDonald) and—to keep the fowl mood going—now I'm concentrating on Love Among the Chickens by P.G. Wodehouse.

I'm a bit disappointed. I thought that's what Love Among the Chickens was about, but I've already read the first five chapters and so far not one mention of Paris!

Once again, thanks to this forum... I was able to answer the final jeopardy question from Friday. The answer was the same as the answer for our last contest.

The pocketbook contest? (Oliver Twist?). Maybe it's a sign that you should sign up for Jeapardy, we will all cheer you on!

I just started "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", and I hope I enjoy it as much as the many people who have praised it in this thread. I am concurrently finishing off "A Song for Arbonne" as well.

Just received Joe Hills new novel Horns and only about 30 pages in kind of cool so far. He is just as twisted as his father. His last book Heart Shaped Box was supposed really good too.
