With that being said - lets all have a drink together tonight - I think poohbear said we could all come by.

Nope, not true at all. Well at least not here anyway. After KK's even tempered beginnings. In the aforementioned threads I was the voice of calm and reason, the lone candle in a sea of discord and unharmonized discontent, the sole participant of understanding and even temperedness. I was, I tell you, I was making everything up in the last sentence

If our forums members could participate in those types of threads without the name calling, personal insults, offensive language and racial slurs it wouldn't be an issue.

But, no worries, there are plenty of other places on the internet where you can discuss those topics all you want.

I very politely tried to open up a bar/poolhall/tearoom, and was immediately slammed. even when I'm polite I get shut down.

for once I'd like to be able to answer some insults instead of being locked out.

My mom always told me two wrongs don't make a right.

What exactly are you losing if you can't return an insult? (This is rhetorical)

Its like John Madden always says when a fight happens in a foot ball game. It is usually the second person retaliating that gets penalized.

folks... if people are insulting you... or just everything they say, gets under your skin... be the more adult and bigger person, report the post and IGNORE them. Maybe if that happened more of these "interesting" threads would not get closed.

You are all aware of the IGNORE feature of the forum system, right?

We had a power cut this morning, so I decided to go to work instead of working from home. When i got back this evening, the electricity was still off. It's only just come back, after eleven hours.

And my broadband doesn't work when the power is down. I slightly regret not keeping a pay-as-you-go dial-up for such occasions. We don't have very good 3g coverage otherwise I too would have bought a mobile internet dongle.

And I've got to get congealed candle-wax off a table that I spent months restoring.

I've graduated to big girl panties and don't need to go crying to the mods every time someone says something that may ruffle my feathers. after all, that is what I stand for, my kids stand for. we're the ones putting on the uniforms so that folks can piss and moan about life.

Varsol works but toluene is the best at wax removal. What is the underlying finish or polish?

I honestly don't think anyone went crying to the moderators in the thread you're referring to.

And I really don't think your uniforms are the way to keep everyone else safe to piss and moan about life. Actually I think it's the other way around. If all the money spent on uniforms were spent on decreasing poverty, help programs for democracy, increasing freedom, I'd personally feel a lot safer. Either way, it's a vocation you're getting paid to do. Stop making it a martyrdom.

I'm referring to several instances thank you very much, especially when a mod says; "there has been a complaint"...

I'm not making it a martyrdom, I'm pointing out that many people are willing to stand up for your right to diss me and those like me. and those same people are just as engaged in nation building as they are other activities... providing clean water, rebuilding schools, bringing in health care fixing roads and many many other actions that help and heal, not just sit around and moan and complain
