for you, perhaps you could get a back up, pre-paid datacard stick from a mobile phone company. I know Harry has one that he rants about. BOb |

I was an "early adopter", and they were still getting policies and procedures in place. It took three months and lots of email and phone calls before I had a working installation, but once it was up, it pretty much Just Worked, and it there was an outage, the telco was responsive. Time Warner remembered that I had inquired, and when cable service became available in my area, sent me a note. Basic service would be three times faster than my DSL account, there would be no need to log on and authenticate to use their network, the price would be the same as my DSL service, and the office where I could pick up a $99 self install kit was across the street from where I worked. Twist my arm... I kept the DSL line as a high speed backup for a while, and finally dropped it when cable service proved quite reliable. My speed has been increased several times at no change in my costs, and I'm currently on a 10mbps connection. To make life complete, I've been able to ditch my telco, TW was pushing VOIP, and their latest offering was actually slightly cheaper than the telco's base pricing, so I switched. (I make next to no long distance calls, so savings on LD charges that were the main incentives to go VOIP didn't apply.) Competition. Gotta love it. ______ Dennis |

Why is it every 6 months or so my Sony Reader Library software crashes and I have to do a complete uninstall and reinstall, including deleting all data files. When I contacted Sony support and asked them what I am doing that keeps causing this to happen, they told me they were "aware that there is a problem with the software".
![]() ![]() ![]() Not to mention that my Book Designer software took a hit somehow and is no longer working. I need to do a little more debugging but I will probably have to start from scratch with that software as well. It could just be a coincidence but it seems like everytime I download updates to my Apple software (Itunes, etc.) something gets zapped. Of course, my husband has been messing with my laptop to try and optimize it (it's over three years old and starting to show it's age and lack of storage). ![]() |

How do you spell 3G/4G cellular broadband? I had the only internet connection in the neigborhood last year when the whole island was dark due to an earthquake. Last edited by wodin; 04-09-2010 at 01:17 PM. |

Yes - lots of different ones available, and they work very well. In an area with good 3G coverage, it's faster than my ADSL connection.

Guidelines? There are guidelines!? crap. I don't even read the instructions on the "some assembly required" gifts the kids get.
To be honest though, I thought I was being civil in that last thread, but Patricia was right in shutting it down - it wasn't really progressing anywhere but down hill. With that being said - lets all have a drink together tonight - I think poohbear said we could all come by. |
