The Industrial front cover is a good alternative to the full cover. It snaps in place on the nook and folds over the front, leaving the back uncovered. It protects the screen AND doesn't add much weight.

Has anyone tried this cover or a cover like it?
http://www.medgestore.com/products/nook-executive.psp

My wife would like something that opens like a book and also can be secured closed so in case it's dropped, it doesn't open.

I used to have an M-Edge Executive cover for my Sony prs-505. Absolutely loved it - it was very sturdy, and while it doesn't look like it from the small bands, it held the 505 securely in place. Probably the only reason I didn't get one for my Nook was price - when I bought it for the 505, it was on sale at amazonfor $15. At $45 now, I just wanted something cheaper.

I have the m-edge executive cover for the nook and love it. The cover looks nice and is very sturdy. I also like the fact that the m-edge e-luminator light can be stored in the case, so you always have a book light available.

I have the M-Edge Leisure Jacket.

I just got back from a cruise and it was a relief to know my Nook was protected. I take it out of the jacket when I am reading in a safe place. I am waiting for the Lyra Book Light Case to be released before I buy another cover.

It doesn't look like the M-Edge illuminator light will work with the Industriell, is that true? I really like that cover, but have the light so I can read at night and not wake up the wife. =)

I have the Industriell and I'm happy with it. I would like a case that has the light attached to it but, then again, it's not that big a deal to clip the light. Guess I'm easy that way.

I stumbled across these. A little pricey, but I really like the looks.

I have the Go Jacket and love it. http://www.medgestore.com/products/nook-go.psp I also have the light that fits the cover. I used a coupon code that saved me $12 on the cover and light. I'm not sure if the code is still good since I bought mine in February but it can't hurt to try. The code is FACEEDGE

I have the M-Edge cover. I have one on the Sony, and it's very secure and protective. When I bought the Nook I returned to the M-Edge.

I just got the Platform Jacket for nook from medgestore.com. Used MOMEDGE as the coupon code (worked on Amazon too) and it saved $10 if the other one doesn't work.
I love this design - flips over the top and creates an easel type setup to prop up your nook on table or lap. Very comfortable and nice quality. holds the light as well with room for it to stay while closed.

I use the Industriell Cover that only protects the front, and I absolutely love it. It is very low profile, so there is not much bulk at all added to the nook. It has a great feel to it, and folds all the way around for comfortable reading. Highly recommended.

I love how the Industriell cover clips to the nook but I don't like its plain-looking front. I'm starting to really like the Alice in Wonderland cover and the Jonathan Adler Punctuation cover but they're both out of stock.

So, I asked my friend to help me find the Alice or Punctuation cover in the B&N stores in the US when she travels there. Hopefully she can find them! If both are unavailable, I guess I'll settle for the Chesterton quote cover in coffee..
