Fascinating, I hadn't heard of that one. It would explain why dark matter is undetectable by traditional physical means. Futhermore it would be travelling through matter flow backwards from the direction of the big bang. Could it be an echo wave from the destination point this matter will reach?

It is certain that there is a direction if you say the Universe is expanding.
Look for a center as ripples from an impact on a water plane.

I've know that for a long time (relatively speaking). After all, when coming up with a name for the measurement of the cross section of a sub-atomic particle, physicists came up with the "barn".

Which implies that the universe is finite.

I wonder if that is because all the particles moving back to the source will eventually exert enough pull on the rest of the outbound particles to slow and, over time, reverse the expansion.

The question then is what caused them to begin moving backwards to begin with? I would postulate that all the particles are tied to the origin with a finite amount of energy that forces to eventually contract backwards. In a nod to string theory, let's call this rubber-band theory.
