How Does Your Spouse/Partner/Etc React to You & Your Reader
This thread is prompted by a remark my wife recently made, "That Sony was one of the best things you've bought."
She was with me when I bought it. I was looking at it in a Boarders and she said, "Just go ahead and buy it, you know you want it." She had missed lunch that day and we were on our way to dinner so hunger may have had a role to play in her actions. These incidents aside, she has reacted very well toward the unit and depending upon where we are going will often suggest that I take it along. It seems that if I'm reading I am more willing to let her take longer than otherwise. Shopping, I can sit an read while she takes however long she wants and doesn't worry if I'm getting restless or have finished what I'm reading. (There's always another book waiting.) So, what are your experiences? |

You don't know me, but does your wife have a sister who is unmarried? I have huge debts at the moment, but I like to read. I also own two Readers, so I can share, if necessary. I also own a vacuum cleaner, mop, and dustrag, so I generally understand the Theory of Cleaning. Please respond immediately. Sincerely, Don |

Mine is a technophobic anticomputer paperhead and despises the reader with a passion ... except for the lightness of it. She's begun suffering from arthritis and dreads holding bricks for long stints.
She's a tough sale but I haven't given up yet. Of course colo(u)r would give me great help. She did look at the little movie about the future of readers at my suggestion and gave a little sign of approval. There's hope yet! ![]() |

I am sorry to report that she is an only child and thus has no sister, unmarried or otherwise. (Also, no half-sisters that her Father will admit to.) Debts are like calories, there are always more just around the corner so they are no big deal. As for this "Theory of Cleaning", it is pure speculation by a bunch of old hens who have nothing better to do with their time than think up absurdities. You are a learned man, wise up and smell the dust bunnies. |

My wife was jealous that my credit is much better then hers and was able to get the Reader at such a discount. After handling the unit a few times, she's fairly impressed that even she can use it without having to ask me questions.

I bought my wife a Sony reader before I got mine with the Sony credit card offer.
I had originally bought her one of the original Rocket Ebooks, and she absolutley LOVED it! Then, the day before Valentine's day, she dropped it and shattered the screen. She was devestated. So, I found out about the Sony, and bought her one for Valentine's. She loved it immeditately! |

My partner seems quite pleased with my sony reader. He was overjoyed when I started clearing out the public domain classics on the bookshelves (which I now have on the reader) because there's now a bit more space for some of his books. He's also noted that I don't seem to have such a bad Amazon habit.
And he's taken to showing it to any other visiting academics, saying, 'It's the future of reading'. I suppose that I will have to buy him one of his own. |

My wife is just 'happy' that I am 'happy' with my Reader. On the etc. side I like the questions from complete strangers:
(Q)"Is that a PC?" - (A) I wish..... (Q) "Is that a PDA?"- (A) Yes and no. More of a PDR (Personal Digital Reader). (Q) "Are you surfing on that thing?" (A) Only if I am reading about surfing. (Q) "How much does it cost?. (A) Around $250 but don't you want to know what it does first. And my all time favourite: (Q) "Can you get porno on that thing?" (A) ![]() Hughdal |

Don't have a wife, but...
my *MOTHER* can't get enough of it! Yep, you guessed it. Bought it for myself with the Sony credit card special and *she's* the one who hogs it! Right now she's reading Lisa See's novels.
Oh well, when Bookeen gets their evaluation units to me, I can have my own Cybook Gen3's to play with. That can't happen soon enough!!! ![]() Derek |

When the Crown Jewels arrive...
Sorry... It's gonna be *REAL* soon, but an exact date of arrival is dependent upon money transfers and shipping method used to get to NAEB corporate ossifers - I'd be one of those. I'll let you all know when that glorious day arrives. (If only it had happened by Friday, I'd have been able to take my Cybook to the dentist to help distract me from tomorrow's (today's to many here) tooth extraction!)
