I read that too. Not a bad read. I think it was a book that was pre-loaded on my Sony 500 when I bought it.

Yep, thought so... I rated it 3.5 stars: http://www.librarything.com/work/49737/book/27437758

I just finished "Ghosts" by Noel Hynd. Well written and very creepy.
Will be starting "The Uncanny" by Andrew Klavan later today.

Finally finished The King of Elfland's Daughter. As you might guess, not a page-turner for me. I couldn't really get into it, I think it's the writing, it was too cold and detached for me.

Just finished Carl Sagan's - Variates of Scientific Experience -- I would say good and engaging, but may not be his best. It is comprised of a series of lectures he did for the 1985 Gifford Lectures.

I'm enjoying his "Demon Haunted World" moreso.

Has The Demon Haunted World ever been released as an ebook?

The Mobileread Book Club has selected The Egg and I by Betty MacDonald as this months selection in the humor genre.

Why not join us and read it too? A discussion thread for it will open in this section on April 18th with a prefix of "Book Club".

We have had a lot of voters for the club selections but we really need some more folks in the discussion threads. It's all very informal.

I hope to see you there.

I might try to read it - I tried it when I was a teenager and found it extremely boring, but I also remember having the same reaction to Three Men in a Boat, which I enjoyed immensely a few months ago.

Now beginning to read Neal Stephenson's Anathem, but I'm having some difficulties getting into it and I also started North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell (still giving in to the lure of romance, I'm afraid ) I like it very much, and look forward to a peek into early industrial Britain.

I read Soul View last year, and enjoyed it, wondering how he would deal with his predicament. Dont want to spoil it for anyone about to read it! I wonder when the next book will come out as there are a few loose threads that will ramp up the tension.

Now reading Defending Evil by Charles Shea; an Atlantan (that somehow doesnt sound right) lawyer who successfully defended a client, who went on to murder again. He is justifying why he will defend another who boasts about his perfect murder. Unfortunately I dont have much knowledge of American jurisprudence - in UK a barrister would need to recuse himself in these circumstances.

Oh No! Not Anathem!! I've tried it twice, deleted it altogether twice. It's so boring that it makes me angry and I purge it from my systems. Maybe it gets better farther in the book, but not worth my time to find out. Good luck with that!!

Jeff published a new one a month or so ago called When Do I See God. I read a few pages and realized that I needed to re-read Soul View again in order to fully appreciate the new one. It is not a sequel, but seems to continue Jeff's exploration of his own faith. It was on my stolen computer, so I have to see if he will send me another copy of it.

Well I have to admit it's far from gripping so far. But I have liked other Stephenson books, so I'll try to at least get past the first few chapters...

I can't seem to start it either. I got it in hardback as a gift when it first appeared and tried to start it several times, it was very tough to even begin, just seems difficult and overwhelming....somewhat akin to my reaction to James Joyce....can't much read his work either, but I continue to give it a shot now and then.

I've started reading A Time to Kill by John Grisham. This is my first Grisham book I'll have read.
