In the event of a tie (which we have now), I think the book that's in second-place should be the one we read; and if two books are tied for second (such as they are now), we should read the one that most nearly rhymes with "jam".

Obviously 'Augustus Carp' got so many votes the system couldn't cope!

OK.. as I said in the beginning... if there is a tie, I would open the poll for another 24 hours. So, it is open....

If there is still a tie after this I will create a run off poll.

Shame really, because (having read the various samples of the other candidates) 'Augustus Carp' is undoubtedly the funniest book in the list.

Well, 'The Eyre Affair' is not really about 'Jane Eyre', you don't have to have read it (I haven't) - nor be a fan - to really enjoy 'The Eyre Affair'
