Is this "glass breakeage" or manufacturer's defect? (judging from the picture)
Folks,
Please look at the pictures below and give your best judgment from your experience with multiple readers - could this look like a mechanical damage of the screen (although it is not visible on the outside of the screen) or it is simply faulty device and something is wrong with the electronics, but the screen was not cracked or broken? To my very untrained eye it looks like cracked glass substrate.
The question is why it cracked. It does not look like it cracked by pressing something on the screen. In that case I would expect a star shaped crack. Perhaps the frame was twisted, or perhaps the glass substrate was not seated properly in frame and cracked or the glass might have had a flaw. It is very difficult to judge from a relatively low resolution photograph. You will have to take it apart and see. Even then it might be impossible to judge. What if the glass had a flaw before installation? |

Classic picture of a broken substrate - you can see the line of the break running top left to lower right in the first picture.

My first crashed eInk display was looking like a little bit looking like this. The only diffrence was, that it was much more visible.
My one broke because something hit against the screen. |

I've been thinking of getting a 360 so I don't like to look at the ugly pictures.
Anyone know how much it is to replace the screen? |
