March

changes
at break of season,
dawns
vibrancy of new life,
once again.
warmth returns to land and main,
removes the pain
of winter cold.
small steps - slowly taken ...
quietly waking
signs.
sand trickles through the glass,
nature-turned
in cycle.

bells of snow
joined, as they fade, by
grounded rainbows,
carpets brightly
the pathways onward ...
fresh beginnings.

nature's new sprung year
takes baby steps
in March
as daffodils trumpet
gaily on the breeze,
serenading
lovers
young and old,
timid and bold.

waiting as
dreams
spring forth.

BTW I just ran across a poet I had not read before in an email and from Rattle magazine:

Lynne Knight featuring her latest book Again

I was impressed enough with her poetry to order the book.

bgDeb, there is some really good stuff out there. I totally don't like esoteric or intellectual type poetry, I want something that makes me think or feel without having to ANALYZE it. I'd be glad to recommend some authors if you're interested. Or maybe just check my favorite poets page.

Eyjafjallajoekull

there she blows,
escapes from icy tomb,
and climbs to heights above the gloom.
to set the seeds for reddened skies;
meandering loftly with streams of wind,
to stir upon all that underlies
its shadows.

there she blows,
ancient murmurs burst from molten womb
to tarnish lives far beyond its icy tomb.
tossed far above in heavens close to space,
'til distance, age and rain;
brings it back to Mother Earth
again.
