Got the boxes for both of our readers today. Yay! Might finally be able to use the reader for a decent time period again.

I know what you mean! I took mine off the charger at noon and by 4pm it was down to almost half. Really annoying considering I've had that thing for years.

I came home and I had a message on voicemail from a Sony rep about the firmware update to fix the battery drain issue. Apparently, the return box is already on the way to my address. I continue to be pleasantly surprised by Sony's proactive support of this product - the PRS-500 wasn't even officially sold in Canada.

Interesting.
I have received no e-mail.
May need to ring them at an appropriate time.
Question: is that their freecall phone number? I've forgotten

We haven't gotten the email for our first reader. Our second one was just updated (got it back last week), and it seems okay - it has firmware 2.0.00.14251. Our first one (with the reduced battery life) has 2.0.00.09180

Wow, I was curious as to whether or not it was a problem on my end or the firmware end for the low battery life (1 week on standby)...and that's after I replaced the battery with a new one. <3 Sony for sure now! Though obviously it would have been nice to not have the problem in the first place.

I don't recall getting an email about this latest battery/firmware issue either, but I just got a notification today from UPS that a box from Laredo, TX is on its way to me.

I got the ePUB upgrade for my PRS-500 back in January, but have not received the email about upgrading the battery. I'm 50/50 on whether to call up Sony Canada and go through the whole nine yards to get my reader upgraded again.....

If anyone in Canada is shipping their PRS-500 back in for battery repair, please post your experience!

Shipping box received - Reader sent back to Sony Canada

Hey gang,

I received the shipping box from Sony Canada on Tuesday and shipped it out (Purolator Courier, on Sony's account) from work yesterday. I'll let you know when I receive it back.

Cheers,
HiWire

Just got confirmation email from UPS. My updated "fix for the firmware fix" reader will be delivered tomorrow evening around 6ish. About a week turn around all total.

Received my unit back this morning. Not unexpectedly it had to be put on a charger as it was completely drained of power (it shut off as soon as it finished the boot up).

Current firmware Rev is now 2.0.00.14251

Ehi, big news! I received no mail from Sony, but I just received a mail from UPS and there's a Sony package coming to me (2 lbs), so maybe they're doing free updates for non-americans, too!!

No, wait they're idiot: they've sent the packages to Pontassieve, Florence in the US (I don't think it even exist) instead of Pontassieve, Florence in Italy!!

Well, that explains why they thought they could send it you (given the NA-only official sales), lmao.
