Because I use Linux.
Unfortunately, Apple hasn't released a version of itunes for Linux, so I have to have windows installed so I can use itunes with my iphone and ipod. I keep windows on a separate partition where it can do no harm ![]() |

If there would be a free alternative to put your own files into the kindle app i would use it too. Until then I, for myself, have to stay with Stanza. |

GoodReader
I prefer GoodReader (www.goodreader.net) for my documents. It allows me to use their built in web browser to go directly to MB and download my books. Also, I can download large pdf files and goodreader handels them fantastic!
I have Stanza, Kindle, GoodReader and Barnes&Nobel reader. I like Stanza and GoodReader the most. |

Another vote for Stanza/Calibre. I see no reason to have all my hundreds of ebooks on my iphone anyway. A couple books at a time is plenty for me.

I think I'll stick to stanza, it works very well.
Not sure if they will be releasing an iPad version or if we will continue to use the current version. |

They won't end it until they've added it's features to the kindle app on the iphone. I just don't see how it would benefit Amazon to create two iPad apps. I also don't see a reason for them to keep "Stanza" when they are pushing their "kindle" brand. Then again, I've been pleasantly surprised that they haven't let stanza wilt on the vine and have actually improved it after acquisition. How much of that was "already in the works" before Lexcycle was purchased, I don't know. Lee |

Oh dear, that day has already arrived (perhaps). Stanza has been removed from the App Store in USA. It also has vanished from the UK store.
Maybe the app will reappear as the Kindle app with ePub functionality! [cue wishful thinking] Last edited by ChristopherTD; 03-17-2010 at 12:23 PM. |

Apparently, it is a glitch that Lexcycle & Apple are working on fixing.

Not sure if it's fixed or not, but Stanza's definitely still in the App store here in Oz.

Hey everyone! I think I will download Stanza, and luckily for I only have one little lonely ebook in my library. I bought it from Amazon and read it in their Kindle for iPhone app, but I am interested in getting Gutenberg content and basically being able to read ebooks from wherever I buy or find them.
So with my PC (ick) and iPhone, how do I: 1)download and store new ebooks to my phone? 2)where on my computer should I download ebooks for synching to my iPhone (and vice versa)? I know this might be a preference, but I want your thoughts! Thanks, mindose ![]() |
