And yes, it is very good. A decades-old mystery, and interesting characters. I have the next book, but despite a desire to see what Sal does next, I'll save it for a bit. Especially as the third isn't out yet!

So - what to read next? Picking something essentially at random from my pile, it's going to be Heaven by Ian Stewart and Jack Cohen.

Ian Stewart the mathematician? I had no idea he'd written any fiction! I'll be interested in what you think of this.

Yes.... I am still reading _The Stand_. About 2/3 or maybe a bit more through it.

Sunday I had to drive my son back to College... about 4 hours round trip... so I started listing to _Palidin of Souls_ by Lois McMasters Bujold. I had previously listened to _The Curse of Challion_. Her books take a bit of time to get going... we just got to the "story" I think... when we got home.

So... I will continue listening to it when I find time.

Really loving "The Lost City of Z" right now. I love books like this. Murder, famine, exploration, obsession, etc.

Just to clarify, the third (The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest) is out now, at least here in Oz (which generally means it's out in the UK, as it's often the UK's publisher's we get it from). Did you mean ebook-form, as I've not looked for it there?

Cheers,
Marc

Thought I would try James Patterson's Worst Case the sample started out pretty quickly. I think it is the third book in the series? Has anybody read these?

Yes, that Ian Stewart and Jack Cohen, who also collaborated (with Terry Pratchett) on The Science of Diskworld I, II and III.

I find they've also done another one, Wheelers, which doesn't seem to be available as an ebook.

Seems all John Grisham's work is to go ebook, PDS. Maybe it's not cool to admit it, but I love his books. Superbly paced. Neil

Yes, I meant in eBook form. The Kindle version is out on May 25th. None of them seem to be available in ebook form from UK publishers.

Just finished a re-read of Moby Dick. I go back to it every couple of years - and it has become a delight! The book is now so familiar to me that I can finally appreciate the humor (ofttimes quite wicked), music, and depth of the writing that was lost on me as a student. If you take the time to track down all of Melville's references, thrown oh so casually into the narrative, you'll find that Melville was extremely well read in the classics, travel literature, and contemporary (for him) literature. Just reading the first chapter can put a smile on my face - as I plunge in again for the doomed voyage.

I haven't read Worst Case yet, but I have read the first in the Micheal Bennett series, "Step on A Crack".

I quite enjoyed it as a simple fun read. Don't expect high drama or an extremely complicated plot - although it does have some surprises.

I read the Firm first, then A Time to Kill. I loved em both. Then read The Pelican Brief and that was pretty good too.. I think I tried a few after that... perhaps The Juror I think... and they just weren't as good... and/or very much the same as the first three.

I read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo back in February and, like you, was going to wait but I caved and started The Girl Who Played with Fire and, so far, like it better than the original
