Shower or two. Balmy 28 C during the day. Lovely just the nights are a bit fresh with 20 Celcius. Considering getting the doona out.

Cyclone seems to be staying off the coast in North Queensland so maybe be won't get that much rain from it down here.

For some reason (pheromones, malignant deities, negative Karma balance) I attract spiders. Or, spiders are attracted to me - but not in a good way. If there are 50 people in a room and 1 spider - you guessed it! I don't know if I taste delicious to 8-legged gourmands, or if I'm on the 10-most wanted list. But they all come running!

Honestly - and sadly - it would work. Last summer I was standing next to a coworker when a large wolf spider (any relation to JSWolf?) ran out from under a desk straight toward us. I stepped quickly to one side - and the spider promptly changed course straight towards me! Fortunately, my coworker's shoe descended sharply!

You know those huge garden spiders we have in our neck of the woods, AKA "writing" spiders (so-called because of the design in the midst of their web that looks like handwriting)? As a kid, I would let them crawl all over me, spinning webs as they went. Why did they do that? I was obviously too big to capture! Did they hope to secure me for a later meal?

Years ago, a friend came to visit me. Just outside our back door, one of these fellows had spun a web. Thinking he would frighten me, my friend reached outside the door and pretended to grab the spider. He then rushed at me as if he were going to throw it on me. I just looked at him as if he were crazy, then reached my hand out the door and grabbed the real McCoy. I held it out to him and asked, "Is this what you were trying to frighten me with?" He quickly backed away, grabbed a chair, and used it to keep me at bay like a lion-tamer with one of the big cats! Jeeze, what a wuss!

The legend is that if one writes your name in it's web, you'll die. Haven't seen it happen yet to anyone I know, so I can't say if there's any truth to it or not.
