I've updated the firmware. Calibre now sees:

Also updated to 0.47 here. Mine gives the same result for the detected drive string, but unfortunately I think the key part is that we've still not yet got values in the string for vendor and product:

Plugged it into Ubuntu 9.10 and it was auto detected & mounted!

lsusb still shows ID 045e:ffff Microsoft Corp.

Linux kernel 2.6.31-20-generic

Kovid already stated the driver was for OSX/Linux only and that the driver is not right in Windows. This post is not news or pertinent to this thread, it is only confusing those looking at this thread for help with their Windows installs.
