And the US version has only "print" version. Sigh.

Only if the Europe or Asia versions is acceptable. Since it's listed under the USA section, I'm guessing these versions are targeted toward US readers with specific interests in news in Europe or Asia. Not sure what is different from the standard version.

That was me, and it's been 5 days and the charge still hasn't appeared on my card despite the on-device message stating I would be charged.

OK, some update on this topic:

I ordered an issue of WSJ from B&N, downloaded with B&N's PC software. It is actually an ePub file. Copied to DR800SG, no problem opening and reading it.

I ordered an issue of NYT from B&N from 800SG, some weird message after clicking "check out". Return to "My Library", order was successful, hit "download", not finished in 5 minutes, I aborted. Using PC software to download, again ePub file. 3.8MBytes. Copied to DR800SG, cannot open it claiming Adobe DRM problem. I guess IREX haven't implemented the ePUB DRM support in the current firmware.

So WSJ from B&N seems to be DRM free.

Correct. The release notes for the April firmware include B&N ePub support. I assume they mean B&N ePub "DRM" support.

Since Sony uses standard ADEPT ePUB DRM, I've been able to side-load newspapers and magazines from the Sony store onto the IREX.

How do they look? How is the interface? Real newspaper feel?

No, sony and Amazon periodicals don't have the look and feel of a real newspaper. But they are fast and easy to navigate compared to NewspapersDirect.
