Sigh - i toyed with sending it back but it seems a small thing when scotch tape does the trick!

What I don't understand is, why your nook downgrades to 1.1 instead of 1.0.
Maybe the file on the server isn't the right one? I'll send you a PM, so you can download the one I've used.

I believe you meant a micro-SD card, not the sim-card. The "metal thingy" can slide between unlocked and locked positions, there was a great manual online with photos how to properly close it.

Do you have any idea, why jen6060's nook is downgrading to 1.1 (see 2 posts above) instead of 1.0?

Yes, you're right. I meant the microSD.. At this rate I cant even work out the non-US sim until I get the soft root right! Thanks - i'll look up how to close!

Nope, not really, but I hope it is downgrading to 1.0 and the root of his problems is the external microSD card slot.

But wouldn't this only matter for step 2, from 1.0 to the softrooted 1.2?
It came already with 1.1. Could this be the reason, having 1.1 kind of "hard wired" as the lowest possible firmware version?

jen6060 now has been able to downgrade to 1.0 and than upgrade to the softrooted 1.2. Right now playing around...
With the 1.0 from the "official" server it permanently was downgrading to 1.1 instead of 1.0. My file, at least 2 weeks old and from that server as well, has been working.
Maybe someone can check out this file? Might be corrupt?

O yes, thanks so much to mgmueller for help! Now puzzling about why battery drained from 81% to 6% in about 8 hours of only sleep/airplane mode! sigh - i thought it might be the soft root as that was the only new thing I did. Still observing...

I don't see any difference, but I've barely used it without softrooting of course. But battery seems okay, drains way less than most other readers.

Does anyone use softroot 2.5.1 with another SIM card than AT&T? The file /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db does not exist so I can't add settings for my provider.

I really want to use a 1.5 firmware, but losing 3G for that doesn't sound like a good idea...

I hope that someone will be able to give me a hint...

I'm not using my SIM in nook anymore (needed it for Samsung Galaxy Tab).
So I can't tell from personal experience.
Did you check nookdevs?

On nookdevs there isn't anything new concerning international SIM cards. I once asked in the nookdev IRC channel, but couldn't find anyone who knew about this.

Where else can I check?
