Internet nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

The BBC is reporting:

I see nothing wrong with giving the award to an object (other than they really should give it to an inanimate carbon rod first). The Nobel Prize is a joke. Past winners include Al Gore (because he solved global warming), President Obama (because he wasn't George W Bush), and Yasser Arafat (because he stopped being a terrorist). Heck, why not take this to the logical conclusion and simply put it in a box of CrackerJack.

Well - if (as your examples show) you win the Peace Prize for doing the OPPOSITE of something peaceful (Obama escalated involvement in Afghanistan, Arafat never really gave up terrorism, etc.) shouldn't the prize go to spammers - for promoting global commerce, little blue pills, and Russian brides - endlessly and without discriminating against anyone? They happily share their information with EVERYONE -- ALL THE TIME -- tirelessly. Sure the internet was already there - but spammers showed us all what its true capabilities were!!

Nobel Peace Prize seems to be going off the rail. If they haven't got anyone worthy giving it to then don't. Sadly it's been cheapened and voided in my eyes by some of the receipients.

Wonder how some of those who truely deserved it for their efforts feel now about it.

The people who truly deserve the Nobel don't expect it, won't be nominated for it, and wouldn't accept it now, for the exact reason you gave. It's become another "Liberal Club" freebie, like those phony degrees they get.
