So couple the extra cost of shipping and cost of packaging etc, I think the increase in shipping is well justified and appropriate (international orders are now $45US).
I hope I didn't come across that I was complaining! I realize the price of just about everything is going up these days. I'm just thankful the price of the Pocket Pro is under $200, so I didn't mind paying a few extra for shipping.

personally, can't help if it sounds like a complaint, not when the weight of a laptop still costs $20-25, same as an accordion... but $45 for a ereader across the border is a little steep however one looks at it.

i don't think that's an unreasonable annoyance, especially when it's the highest even among other companies or resellers of the unit.

anyway,

I didn't think you were complaining, I just added my observations (which as I stated I think the increase was well justified). You're right about the cost of everything going up. Getting a little off topic a bit, but it really drives me mad when prices don't go up in respect to costs. I got a quote here in Aus for some fancy timer skirting to be delivered, petrol prices had gone up at that stage by 10% (about anyway) yet the cost of freight was 30% higher to combat the cost of petrol.

I can sympathise with the shipping woes - I'm in Australia. So, I faced a US$45 shipping plus a Paypal exchange rate (not very appealing I'm told) plus a Paypal currency exchange fee (2.5% I think). I ended up ordering through an organisation that purchases on behalf of the client in the US then ships to Aus..

I calculate that I got my hot little hands on the Pocket Pro (after 8 days!) for around AUS$285.

That may not sound that great, but the best online price I could find (within Australia) was AUS$389 (for a BeBook) - and that probably would have had a shipping cost added to it.

I have to say, the Pocket Pro was worth the trouble.

I think I paid about $260AU for my PP with shipping included once all was said and done. I was quite happy with the price. Maybe it's expensive for shipping because Astak send it UPS priority one.

I ordered Pocket Pro from theezreader.com about a 10 days ago and I didn't get any "freebies." Of the items listed on the box, I got everything except the wrist leash. In its place was a small screwdriver. I read somewhere here that someone got a couple extra batteries with theirs, without any explanation. It seems there is a little kismet involved with what you get. It also seems you're likely to at least get what is essential - the reader, USB cable, case, power adapter...etc. (Don't know what I'd do with a wrist leash---take it for a walk? ) It would have been nice to have gotten a light or SD card...but I guess my timing was off.

Peace.

Thanks for that; you started my morning off with a chuckle.

And my wrist leash is still in the box. I'm not quite sure what to do with it, either.

Did you get jammed with a "Customs Broker Fee" on top of customs Duties?

UPS/FEDEX Air rates are supposed to include "Brokerage", while Ground (Canada/Mexico) does not.

There should have been the driver so you could plug the Battery in.

Use the Wrist Leash to avoid dropping (not covered by warranty) your PEz.
The screen is a major portion of the cost. You do not want t break it.

hi, i can answer that one for ya..

technically, if you paid air, they will tell you it's NOT a brokerage fee... i forget the term for it, it's a pre-something service fee, but NOT a brokerage fee, because that is already in the price.

that's the line i was given once... luckily the company i bought from felt it was also bad business and they reimbursed me that "fee" and took Fedex to task for it.

who knows... maybe ill have to just stay with the Libre..

As far as I understand it, the 2 GB card is the standard. It's even mentioned on the back of the box (or at least mines).

If ordering from Astak/Ezreader.com still charges you $45, then more than likely you won't find a cheaper price. As other retailers and electronic stores usually mark up the $199 by $20 or more in addition to the $45 shipping fee.

yeah, i just spoke with the company... i can't do the Pro, have to stick with my Libre.

$200 + $37 to ship + whatever fees
NO CARD

and that's all if the website will work for me this time.

just not feasible for me, even though it looks like the PERFECT unit. what can I say... budgets.

now try to be happy with the Libre again, er......

thanks

Are you talking about the Specifications line:
USB2.0, SD Card
That is a comma. 2 items

The back of my box (1st shipments)
Contents:
does not mention the screwdriver (or spare screws) that were in the box.
I got a 1G. card with 300 books (from PG...)
All the rest was packed as listed.
