Sony Reader won't run now

I'm pulling out my hair here. All of a sudden Sony Reader won't open up. It looks like it's going to open, then nothing. I tried uninstalling, running ccleaner, and installing the newest version. It installs, and still nothing... Please Help! I'm running the 64bit version of vista. Thank You!

Sounds like something is corrupted... I didn't even install the Sony software, so I really don't know....but Perhaps if you are a bit computer savvy... Turn on show hidden files and folders. Go to root of your drive (usually C).... you should see a folder called "Program Data".... If there is a Sony readers folder in there, delete it. Often when you uninstall a program, they leave that behind... usually some type of config files are in there....

Also check C:\users\yourname\appdata folder, there may be a sony one in there as well... if you have other sony software installed make sure you only delete the Sony reader folders......

Perhaps uninstall, do above and reinstall.... just an idea.....

Unless you are buying books from the Sony store there is no real need to install or use the Sony Software..... Calibre is an excellent free program that works great....

Don't see any sony stuff in there. The only reason I need the Sony Reader is to get my notes and highlights off of my 600. I'm studying for a fire fighter promotional exam, and the 600 is a great highlighting tool for reading material. Is there another program to extract notes and highlights? I know someone here was working on a script for notes, but not highlights. Thanks

If you are doing the uninstall and looking for all the folders...
I found the below post with instructions... I may help to get it up and running again..

    For Windows Vista:

-Change the Folder Options so it would show the Hidden Files and Folders

-Open the Directory "C:\Program Data" here you need to delete the folders "Kinoma" and "Marlin"

-Open the Directory "C:\Users\"Your Windows User Name"\AppData\Local Settings\Application Data" here you need to delete the "Kinoma" folder and the Sony Corporation Folder.

-Open the Directory "C:\Program Files\Sony\ and delete the "Reader" and "Sony Reader" Folders

-Install the Latest Version of the eBook Library and the Source view should show up.

Please let us know how it goes.

Thanks Eddie, there's so much to study! I'm with the Honolulu Fire Department. Luckily we have most of our manuals in electronic form. Dream, I'm chatting with a sony rep right now. I will try that when they have unsuccessfully solved my problem.

My wife and I vacationed in Honolulu way back in 1985. The guy who drove the little bus that transported us from the airport to our hotel on Waikiki beach was a Honolulu Firefighter. He was working part time driving the bus. He told us a bunch of jokes and gave us a few pointers on where to go. He was a cool guy. I still remember him after all those years.

I wish they had ereaders when I was studying for my promotional exams. We had so many books to study from it was like a mini-library. Fire Chief Handbook, IFSTA Study Guides, etc, etc. It would have been nice to have all of that in one convenient package that you can study anywhere.

I gotta tell ya, garbanzo, Revo Uninstaller worked like a charm for me! I've tried every fix known for Sony Reader Library and nothing worked till I zapped it with Revo! My many thanks for pointing out this product and for saving what little sanity I had left.
