I have never seen anything like this before; is this an annual thing? I agree, it seems like either the books they are offering for free have been free ever since I got my ereader or you can't find anything. I got a book from Kobo that was originally $13.99 but paid $4 and something tho, so maybe that's worth something. I was a bit sad to their one free ebook turn into a $1 off coupon; I recieve those all the time from them. Hell the $3 & $4 dollar coupons were better than that, lol!!

Yeah, I noticed that as well. Really disappointed so far, probably won't bother checking the ebook week site the rest of the week; seems like a waste of time to me. I don't want to spend time digging through 50 links to see IF they have any deals, especially when they've hidden them on their site.

I do really appreciate all the authors who have come into this thread to give links to their works. THANK YOU!

Well said...I agree wholeheartedly.

Thanks to all the authors who made their work available and to the few sites that actually made finding that body of work less of a chore.

Worse than that, it ended up being 10% off, at least on every book I tried it on - as little as 12 cents to around a dollar off, depending on the price of the book tested against. The Buy5 coupon was better (and worked for more than 5 books), as were several others still valid today.

I am very appreciated of the what is being offered, whether it is a discount or completely free. I do not want to come across as being unappreciative, because I am very much grateful for BOTH the free books and discounted books being made available this week.

What I don't appreciate though, is some of the partners listing discount prices that are not equal to the real price or listing "free" books where no free books exists..or the need to spend 20-30mins on their sites to even find what books are part of the ebook week program

But yes, thank you so much to those authors who are making it much easier.

yes, I was excited about Kobo's one book free but now it's $1 off. I appreciate the effort, but I'll pass on that.

Ah ... I see now what you meant, Simon. I'm afraid you misread my OP. It's because our own bewrite.net website is down for reconstruction this week that we're running our usual REBW offers through our publisher page at Smashwords (see the links in my sig line below).

More than 200 downloads of BeWrite Books ebooks in the first 24-hours, by the way. An impressive number of those generously paid for, which is good news for the Haiti fund.

Cheers. Neil

No problem, Simon. By the way, I was tremendously surprised by something I just found on Smashwords today: Although we downloaded our catalogue only two months ago, BeWrite Books is the most viewed Smashwords publisher in the history of the site. Guess we must be doing something right, eh? Mind you, we do have some darned fine authors, and the books are spot on editorially perfect (though I hate to boast). https://www.smashwords.com/100/publi...op/alltime/1/0

Sorry everyone who went for the Kobo free coupon. I misunderstood the original email. When I was told the coupon was taking off $1.00 I immediately changed the listing - only to find the coupon was actually 10% off!

As for the hidden e-books - well, the participants were told they had to have a free, or deeply discounted, e-book on their site. Site owners often don't realize how complex their sites are for visitors. And - I've made a very long list of "Notes To Me" about this process for next year. The listing of participants may be quite a bit shorter.

This year the mandate of Read an E-Book Week is: to educate the public about electronic reading and to promote the individuals and entities involved in all aspects of the experience - from the authors who create the books to the technology in the e-readers.

For those new to e-books, even the "oldies" would be wonderful to have on their readers. And the collection of articles and interviews is a treasure-trove of information for those seeking information.

New participants have been added today, including Booktaste (I downloaded several of their books), CyberRead and Editorial Letralia (Spanish) from Venezuela.

Rita,

I'd suggest (and this is how I took it when you wrote it to me) that you just make it clear - they show the banner, they link to your site, they provide a free or deeply discounted e-book and a DIRECT LINK TO THAT FREE PRODUCT. That should clarify it... weird that they'd "support" you and then make it a hassle for those taking advantage...

Please remove: http://www.thecircleoffriends.net/index.html as I can not find the "free" book listed nor a link back to ebookweek.com
