Just adding the font files to the epub is not enough. You need to use the proper @font-face CSS style rules. Search in the epub forum here on MR for the details.

IIRC calibre is able to embed fonts from the fonts folder into LRF e-books. I use fontconfig to access them. I agree you cant using the windows APIs. Let me know if you want more details on how it works.

Hi Valloric

Thank you for your reply, you mean I still need to write CSS manually?

Cheers

I've noticed that this new version adds the following CSS code:

body.sgc-1 {word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space;}

This code gets added to every xhtml file in the text folder and sigil seems to want this line and will put it back in even if I remove it or transfer it to a CSS file.

Whats the significance of this line and why do I now need it?

I was wondering about that too. And why in every single page, and not in the CSS?

My biggest problem is QtWebKit and the lack of font variant support. When that gets fixed (possibly next Qt version), then I'll take a look into pulling out the fonts in a cross-platform way.

Sadly, yes. See this post.

That's just QtWebKit adding some CSS to your body tag that Tidy then pulls out into a separate CSS rule. It's always been in Sigil. The styles are WebKit specific so you can safely ignore it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!

Thank you so much for this program! From what I've read I knew this was a great program, but I was skeptical that I'd be able to figure out how to use it. But after about 30 minutes I was able to figure out what I needed to do, and now I'm flying through!

I downloaded a free version of a Bible online (NET Bible), but it was divided only into books. There was no Old Testament and New Testament divisions, or chapter divisions within each book. A couple weeks ago I used the version of Sigil that was available at that time, and I was able to make the OT and NT divisions. But it was so slow, I didn't even attempt to make chapter divisions within the books. Today I downloaded the new beta, and in about 20 minutes I've already got chapter divisions for the entire book of Genesis, and I should have the rest of the Bible done by this weekend!

So !!!!!

Just played around with it for a bit.

Some things I immediately noticed (might have been mentioned).

- I'd prefer a view where you can also so the whole book, not just the sections. This might help with removing accidental pagebreaks and such
- No chapter merge option. Tried messing around with an epub file that had chapter breaks at the wrong places, couldn't find a way to undo that.
- When creating a new file it might be a good idea for it to automatically have a automatic CSS style sheet created which is then automatically included in all the new sections that are created.

As it is currently you have to manually add the link to the style sheet each time you add a new section/chapter (unless I'm missing something).

Not possible anymore. At least not in a way that wouldn't suck.

Good idea, add it to the tracker. Might make it into the next beta.

Yeah, it's a hassle. Add it to the tracker, I have a few ideas on how to remedy that. But for 0.2.1+, not the betas.
