I have just used the installer from March 2 and I am getting the Fsk error -41. Is there a later version of the installer? If yes, how do I get it quickly

EPUB style switching
Browsing SD cards with mount/umount
win1251 & latin encodings supported in TXT/RTF files
/database/system/PRSPlus/prsp.sh is "dot called" from the startup script BUT ONLY IF there is no active usb connection.

Is it possible, Kartu, to disable SD card scanning, browse the SD card contents via mount, but still view the files with their metadata Title and Author information and view/read them directly from the SD card?

Doing so would actually allow someone (e.g.: me) to fill a 16 GB card with books properly categorized into nested folders and not have to fear either scanning time-outs or impractically long book index listings.

Copying to memory prior to reading just does not appeal to me, because it feels like an unnecessary extra step (as I do not experience performance issues when reading directly from the SD card).

EDIT: I guess the SD card's contents would have to be scanned on a directory by directory basis, with no recursion. Maybe with the addition of some checksumming and caching of metadata, to eliminate unnecessary rescans... I guess maybe this is not so simple after all.

Any chance you could give me some pointers toward getting PRS+ to work like that, assuming it is not too complicated to implement?

Ps.: Also, any chance you can add provisions for a custom logo, as in PRSCustomizer? I have gotten so used to it, that I now find the default "Reader" text in the upper left corner a bit of an eyesore.

Probably yes, but it's quite tricky.

Prepare SD card via PRSCustomizer, then go to 505....18040.. folder in the root of the card (don't remember exact name, it should contain both 505 and firmware version 1.1.00.18040) and delete stuff other than kBookAssets.png.

Sorry... are you saying I can just copy over the kBookAssets.png file into the proper place for it to get copied over by the PRS+ installation script?

I have this in mind, when inspecting decompiled code, but it's not part of the roadmap since there are neither even rough estimations of how long that would take nor any sort of guarantee of success.

In short:
no, it won't work with PRS+ installer, only with PRSCustomizer or directly via igorsk's flasher.

In details:
There are 2 ways to change firmware:
a) using Fsk cramfs image files
b) by reconstructing Fsk partition on the fly (extract to tmp, copy new files over, create cramfs image), combining them with several custom files.

Igorsk's flasher can do both.
PRSCustomizer basically prepares igorsk's flasher for you. The flasher is quite easy to use. I don't recall exact menu names, but you basically "create image" and then "flash" it with other menu option. When "creating" image, files from the folder corresponding to your reader's model/firmware version are used. This works perfectly with files that do not need x flag (if you replace tinyhttp.sh file with the flasher, it will brick your ebook since x flag will be lost)

PRS+ Installer only does a) in a bit user frendlier way, it can also flash Rootfs partition, effectively "downgrading" the reader to US 1.1.00.18040.

Oh, just forgot, you can, of course, replace files in Fsk.img using cramfs utilities and then use PRS+ Installer (or igorsk's flasher ) to flash it.

Kartu i just copied the last modifications of _browsefolders.js and _1_util.js but now the options disabled scan ms-sd not function, because altough this function is disabled always the targets are scaned. could you test it and tell me something about this?

Victor, disabling scan works fine for me. It's a small function that hasn't changed.

If you want to use mount/umount feature, you have to install the prs+ firmware.

Kartu for the moment i don't use the function mount/umount (what are its function?), i send you the files i use in my reader (these are translated in spanish) to test is there is any problem. To install the new firmaware is it necesary to use the installer? one installed the new firmware is it posible to change the icons with igork's flash?

OK, I just install it and it works great

But I had difficulties prior to installation because I did not see that text "Greyed out part of this guide is outdated" and "Instructions for less experienced users" did not have much sense, then I saw detailed instructions in PDF that have more sense (it includes three zip files required to install) but then I saw that even PDF is on "greyed out part of this guide". Only then I saw just simple instruction "To install PRS+: unpack PRS+ installer zip (available in download section) to your SD or MS card" and it works great.

I suppose that you have your reasons for keeping that greyed out parts on PRS+ Installation Guide page, but as you can see that can be confusing for new users , or it's just me

Later on I will try to insert some fonts for ePub that have letters that I need, as I understand I need to use procedure from this pepak topic

mount/umount way is only ment for those, who have problems accessing some folders/files on their SD/MS cards due to bugs in Sony's mtools like utility.

You need to use /database/system/PRSPlus/epub/style.css.
You could also put several .css files there and switch between them using PRS+ config.

I'll remove greyed out part, if it's confusing.

Can someone explain to me the differences when I turn on or off indexing of the SD card? I know that I cannot directly open a book on the SD card when I turn off indexing. I don't really understand the other implications. I have a library of about 1500 books that I will be downloading to my card. Does turning off this indexing or scanning allow the 505 to turn on much quicker? Does this mean that I now have a problem when I want to see all my "Mysteries" on my card? Could someone please explain the implications? Thanks a lot. Sorry if it should be obvious...............Jackie

No.(Kartu)

So in this case Kartu what are the files i need to install or copy to use the function mount/umount if i have the first firmware of PRS+

And what does it do this mount/umount?
