Of course that is the best counter-argument to my assertion, and I half believe it. Soon we shall see if she writes for art. As for having enough money, you can't be too thin either!

Oddly enough, they've done e-books for other things.

In the "Narnia" books all the main characters die at the end, but it's been an enduring favourite with children for decades.

The thought occurs to me that since I'll get my HP7 some 5 or 6 hours before most of the rest of you (yes, I'll be queuing up at midnight for it, just as I have for the last 3 ) I'll be able to post spoilers and tell you exactly who dies before any of you get the book

<Just kidding .... >

And ere you've been fussing about how we Americans get all the goodies first! Now something truly important comes along and you Brits get it first.

They know we're hooked on HP. So... they'll milk us first for the paper version although we hold it in aversion. Then a year later they'll grant our wish and milk us again for the e-versions.

Let's face it, though, how many Potter fans who want the eBooks do you suppose haven't actually got them? They aren't exactly difficult to get hold of. I remember that when the last book came out, there was a perfectly acceptable 1st draft of it on Usenet within 48 hours, and a "polished" version within a week.

Well, there's dead, and then there's dead, if you see what I mean. Since the whole point of the Narnia ending is that the lives the characters have lived up to that point doesn't matter as much as their new, eternal life, are they really dead?

Then again, Rowling could do something like that with the end of Harry Potter. She's certainly hinted that there is something beyond death. Ghosts, like Nearly Headless Nick, were afraid to face it. Dumbledore wasn't, and neither was Sirius. Harry and Luna could both hear the voices on the other side of the Veiled Archway in the Department of Mysteries.

I myself think that exploring this too closely would take away a lot of the mystery appeal of the series, but it's up to Rowling.

There is a feature here on this site that is a lot of fun; if you've tried it. It's the "Who's on Line" from the "Quick Links" in the menu bar.

The first time I used it, it felt just like "The Marauder's Map". There is a sense that you're doing something not quite right when consulting it. The nicest of which is sending a PM to someone you know is online and refreshing the page to see "Viewing Personal Messages". It's the closest you can get to someone and quite Potterish.

Maybe we should give the YSS a name, how about "Harvey"?

Harvey is a big pink bunny.

I think the spider should be named Boris after the song by The Who.

Aragog, because it came up during a discussion of Harry Potter. Or Shelob, if you like that big spider better.
