Yeah! Somewhere in the world, it was cold last year. Guess all those snooty scientists were wrong after all!

Good point, but if it had been the hottest year ever you can guarantee it would have been shamelessly paraded as proof!

How right you are! A climatologist tried that very tactic once in a paper submitted to Nature entitled, if I recall correctly, “Timbuktu had a recent warm spell: What further proof is needed?” The MainStreamMedia would have had a field day with that one had it not been for Professor Glenbeck, PhD. from the University of Wudevah, who pointed out that it was snowing somewhere in the United States at that very moment!

Plus, it is freely available, which is nice. Actually, even if you are new to climate science, there are some interesting bits, particularly on climate modeling, that might be useful.
I've decided to make reading this book a priority before entering into any further debates about the level of evidence (or lack thereof) for climate change. Who's with me? It would make a great "non-fiction book club" choice for March.

Thanks for that interesting and informative link, but I wonder why the forward and back buttons on that site seem to be in reverse order from pretty much every other site on the Web?

I don't know, but you can get each of the chapters as a PDF here:

http://stratus.astr.ucl.ac.be/textbook/ebook.html

I plan to download, combine the chapters, and convert to ePub. Since the material is provided under Creative Commons, I would think it could be uploaded here once I've done that.

Too late for this month's book club; but I wouldn't mind having a stab at it.

I certainly need to know more about it if I'm going to make my own mind up about the issue. At the moment I'm just reacting with varying degrees of repulsion at the antics of the more extreme advocates on both sides.
