damn stupid back up software !!!!!

works seemlessly in the 'background' so you don't have to worry !.....

inadvertently changed my email setting to delete mail older than 30 days from my drive ...

oh doh !!!! (it was a hard day yesterday !) ...

no problem I thought - I have this amazing new backup software and drive - I'll retrieve....

HUH !

mail restore points, all five of them created today .... !!!!

where's the state of backup for (yesterday ? last week ? last month !!!!)

I was incensed when he came home and told me that it had just slipped by unnoticed. You'd think you'd get some form of recognition, even a letter or a card.

I was so steamed up last night thinking about it and all the extra hours he puts in that I went online, found the directors name and contact details and wrote them a bit of an irate letter.

So I'm still fuming this morning.

Upset me and it isn't a big issue but upset my immediate family and that's it - I turn from a sweet-natured little thing into a tiger!

I just got my first time in service award in January, I have 32 years, and they gave me a thirty year award. They are supposed to be every five years.

That and five bucks will get me a cup of coffee at Starbucks!

I had to write my own career history for the CE to then write back to me with exactly what I wrote ... maybe got more than a cup of coffee, but the end result was a bit of an anti-climax....bought meself an antique barometer as consolation - darn sight better'n the offered modern version ....

I believe I have a 20 year pin laying around somewhere. It's the only one they ever gave me. I now have 30½ years with the government.

33, with my military time thrown in (it counts for retirement!), and one lousy pin.

(PS: In government service in the States, for that military time to count toward our retirement, we have to "buy" it back. I did.)

Why do people keep insisting on telling me I need to be a writer? I don't want to be a writer, I can't plot worth a darn. I don't want to write a book, I don't want to write anything longer than a blog post. I don't take criticism well, I'd be a disaster as an author...and yet, all these otherwise brilliant people keep insisting I'd be a great writer. I don't get it.

I will have 15 years at my company this May. I think they do have some sort of token service award thing and a letter is sent signed by the CEO. I have my 5 year letter and 10 year letter hanging right here in my cube.

I think it is all automated. While it is "the least they could do"... at least it is something.

For what it's worth, I always thought you'd make an awful writer

My throat really hurts. It's not sore, it feels like a painful lump at the base of my throat. It hurts to swallow

I'm guessing this is not a good sign.

It was reported on the news that there's a stomach flu going around in our area. Two days ago, our grandson came home with it and promptly passed it to my wife and ex-DIL. Never one to miss anything that comes my way, I'll probably get in over the weekend, just in time to miss a darn good excuse to lay out of work!

I am not even sure at whom I want to rant: the IT guy who made an appointment for 8 am or for myself believing him?

Since when did an IT guy rock up a) at 8 am and b) on time

Arrrrrrrghh 4 cups of coffee and 2 hours later I am still waiting. Wonder where he has got his fingers cos they are surely not on the phone dialing my number. And I am just too impatient myself to set up this so called 'easy' wireless network at home. Already through one of the routers against the wall (I did mention I am impatient didn't I).

Stuff these so called 'easy-to-it-yourself' things they never work for me.
