Rules stay the same:

Series = More voltage but current remains @ individual cell capacity

Parallel = More current but voltage remains @ individual cell rating

If you're using rechargeables, just have a couple of extra sets and you really don't have to worry about run time...unless you're in the jungle at night away from a socket to plug your charger into

But the M-Edge already have a PRS-900 light. However it still takes a single AAA battery and has a single LED light, so I'm not sure if it's significantly better than the Sony one.

Yes, the light exists but what cover am I to use? They aren't available yet. The Mighty Bright TravelFlex is one LED and a single AAA battery as well. It's very bright. I keep that one in my bag because it has a small footprint. Most people complain that the Sony light/case is just too dim for the money but they like the all-in-one look.

True, I was also sucked in by the looks of the Sony case.
I'm waiting for these clever people on the forum to figure out how to use the Mighty Bright light with the Sony case. Now that would be something.
In the meantime I think I'll revert back to the original Sony case + a clip-on light.

Alright, it's time for me to eat a humble pie. I replaced the battery in my Sony light/case and it works great. Much better than before. Sure, it's not Mighty Bright, but a new Energizer is all it took for me. I think the Sony shipped battery was a bit old or something ...

I bought an energy booster last Friday. It's basically what I wanted to build. It has a Li battery, 2 USB ports (which can probably be used to power the reader also when on the road without an outlet) and a wall charger. Lighting is as good as the pictures I made using the USB hub. Next week at work I'll try to make an aluminum clamp to attach the battery to the readers cover.

You're the second person I recall who had to do the same thing. I'll try to remember to pass this tip along to the next person who complains about the light.
