I can empathize. I have extremely bad eyesight, too, which is probably why I have a rather large collection of gadgets that give me access to books! It can be extremely frustrating when you can't have "normal" print books to fall back on when things go wrong, especially if you've spend a lot of time, effort, and money getting the tools you need.
I remember a few years ago when all three of my 4-track cassette tape players were broken, it was going to take the library for the blind a few weeks to send me a replacement (it's a specially produced player for a proprietary recording format), and the weather was too foul to walk to the local library for large print books. I was nearly crying, too.
I hope you can get your reader fixed or replaced.

Kevin2960, Did you get it working again? You must not give up hope. Hang in there. Check for hard reset instructions; look for help from fellow MR members; get the darn thing replaced! It will be alright. =O

Yes tell me about it - my MacBook died completely after barely 2 years of use which I wasn't impressed with at all. Yet the first laptop I ever owned just a cheap Asus bought back in 1998 is still going strong.

I wasn't tempted to buy another MacBook - for the same price I bought a decent Samsung laptop, Sony Touch ereader and a Kindle! Well actually hubs bought the laptop as he felt sorry for me when the mac died - I was gutted!
