Right now, I'm having serious doubts that posting is better for my mental health than talking to myself.

P.S: I'm sorry to hear your child is ill, Happy. I'm sure all will be well soon. All mothers turn a simple cold into a C.D.C. emergency. It's just a guilt trip. Relax.

And mindlessly reading MR posts.
Some people get up to some weird things - Ms perfect with the home renovating, must be young and tireless???. What am I doing?, I've just got home from work, fed the dog, washed up, made the bed, read my book (unfortunately not an EBook) watched TV - you know, the NORMAL kind of stuff...confounded

Got an HTTP fileserver going that's reasonably immune to script-kiddies, though I haven't bothered doing HTTPS yet.

The irony here is that not only does my wife not share my enthusiasm for such things but Jeremy and company are just this side of insane. The guys at Car & Driver think like this as well, too bad it doesn't translate to their TV show.

The best shows to watch are their 'specials' - not least the one where Jeremy and Captain Slow (in Toyotas) raced The Hamster (dog-sleigh) to the magnetic North Pole ...

from what i've seen of your posts, i'm pretty sure it's too late to worry about one way or the other.

heheh. my dad is not a surgeon but when i was a little kid, if, for instance i told my dad i hurt my thumb, he would suggest that he could cut it off for me, then it wouldn't be a problem.

currently, i am wondering why i am apparently unable to sleep longer than 4 or 5 hours a night lately (which is unnatural, unhealthy, and unpleasant), and hoping i'll manage to have a nap later on.

Just finished checking the results on the Virginia Lottery website to see if I have to work tonight.

Yep.

(I know, you don't have to tell me. State lotteries are a tax on the mathematically illiterate. But hope, even of the slimmest variety, is hard to kill!)

These guys where stealing lottery tickets. They needed a large sample so they could reverse engineer the algorithm used to tie the serial number to the prize amount. This way they could determine the serial number for the $5million winner. There was an insider working with them why got access to the list of s/n's that went to the lottery agents so they could then buy the jackpot ticket.

Of course, through the whole show Prof Charlie Epps was saying how it was a tax on the mathematically inept among us... of course his Dad took the opposite stance... sort of like I do... the money in most state lotteries is used for education.

As a matter of fact, lottery money is paying the tuition of both of my two sons currently in college.

There was a funny gag at the end where Charlie's Dad gives him a lotto ticket and Charlie win's $10k... only to find out that his dad punked him and it was a gag lotto ticket he bought online.
