Well, I bit the bullet and ordered a jetBook Lite and a 4gig SDHC card from NewEgg since they were that cheap. I've been reading alot here about what to do next. I have found many great suggestions. I've been looking around the web at alot of the sites that several people have suggested but I do have a couple of questions.

1. Has anyone tried to use the book previews from Barnes and Noble? Will it work on the Lite? I like the idea of being able to preview a book first before buying it just to make sure I like it.

2. I've read of some people having problems with the jetBook Lite (lockups and what not). What do you all suggest new users do to put their new purchase through its paces to see if it'll break? I have the understanding with electronics that if it's going to break, it usually does pretty early in it's life.

3. I thought I read somewhere that the os was based on linix. Can anyone point me to a good place for info on possibly modifying the firmware? I'm a total newbie for linix but I'd like to play with it. Anyone find an emulator for the jetBook to use on the computer with modified firmware?

I recieved my jetBook Lite and I must say that I am impressed. I like the feel a little more than my wife's Kindle. I think it might have to do with the battery holder. I do wish there was a page change button on the right side though.

Updates to my own questions.

1. I have download several book (10-15) previews from b&n. They work with no problems. I will probably buy a few. Are there any other sites that you all have found that offer book previews?

2. I guess that there isn't any really paces to put it through. If it's going to fail, it's going to fail.

3. Still don't know.

In most book formats touching the right cursor should also get you a page turn.

I havn't looked to see which do and which don't.

Works for all but PDF in the Original jetBook... but not sure what the Lite uses for eReader and whether it works there or not. Should for other formats at least.

yes, it works for jetBook-Lite too. I almost don't use the right cursor to change pages but I just checked it with PDB book and it works.
